It's Hunger Action Month and there are so many ways you can lend a helping hand to your neighbors facing hunger. One is to purchase local craft beverages!

Be sure to visit Tap into New Mexico Craft partner retailers or restaurants to support the food bank all month long. Each sale of these products into retailers and restaurants results in a donation to benefit Roadrunner Food Bank!

By supporting local craft beverage producers, you can help New Mexicans experiencing hunger. Learn more about the retail and restaurant locations carrying Tap into NM Craft products in your area by visiting rrfb.org/tapintonmcraft.

We met Yolanda at one of our community based mobile food pantries. She shared, "This food helps. I share with my neighbors. With everything going on it helps in many ways. We are able to put money towards other expenses and know that we will have food to put on the table. This food helps so many people and I am very thankful."

Food shouldn't be an impossible choice. You can help make a difference in the lives of your fellow New Mexicans facing hunger, all month long. Find out how you can get involved this Hunger Action Month by visiting rrfb.org/hungeraction.

Today, Roadrunner Food Bank staff gathered to commemorate 9/11. We honor and remember the brave first responders and many individuals who lost their lives that fateful day.

Twenty years later, amid continued darkness, we ask one very important question: “How can we be a light in the world?”

We invite you to honor and commemorate the lives lost in 9/11 with us and to share ways that you or your loved ones strive to “be a light in the world”.

(Poem by Patricia A. Fleming)

Meet this month’s #featureemployee, the one and only Savannah! She is the SeedCorps Program Coordinator and a part of our Community Initiatives Department. Her role encompasses many important tasks including assisting with the management of our SeedCorps AmeriCorps members.

Savannah has been with Roadrunner Food Bank for a little over a year. A fun fact about her is that she has lived in six different countries including the US, the Netherlands, Guatemala, Germany, Poland and Georgia!

When asked, “If you could have an infinite supply of one food item, what would it be and why?” Savannah replied, “If I had an infinite supply of one food item, it would be Oscypek cheese with cranberry sauce! It is a cheese from the Tatras Mountains region of Poland. I moved to Poland partially because of this cheese!”

What Savannah loves most about working at Roadrunner is the AmeriCorps members. “As an AmeriCorps member myself, I want to make the service experience of our members as impactful and inspiring as my service year,” she said. “The best part is watching the team get really close and even become friends. They inspire me everyday with the passion they have for serving their community during a pandemic and giving their all to the community members we serve.”

Help us thank Savannah for the wonderful work she is doing for Roadrunner Food Bank and our community!

It is September which means it is Hunger Action Month! In New Mexico, 1 and 4 children and 1 in 6 people overall are at risk of hunger. Medicine should never come at the cost of food. This is just one of the many challenging decisions that tens of thousands of New Mexicans are forced to make everyday.

We encourage you to get involved this month. We have created a 30 ways in 30 days challenge and invite you to participate with us! To download the calendar and learn more about how you can take action against hunger this month, visit www.rrfb.org/hungeraction.

Every two years, Roadrunner Food Bank is audited by AIB International. The process is intended to check several categories of Roadrunner's operation including cleanliness, food safety, maintenance and integrated pest management.

This year the food bank received its best score ever, a 955/1000!

A huge shoutout to our staff and a big thank you to our amazing volunteers for their work and preparation. This achievement would not have been possible without them!

When asked why she donates to Roadrunner Food Bank, Mary shared, “I believe in food banks. They work to feed people often with lots of volunteers and lower overhead than other kinds of charities or nonprofits. If there is a disaster I will find a food bank and send them money to help them restock or in some cases rebuild. I trust that the money will be used properly. I know there are many hungry New Mexicans and you can buy more food with my money than I could buy and haul over there. I probably won’t be out working at a kitchen directly feeding the hungry so I try to regularly donate so you can put it to the best use to feed the most people."

As Nonprofit Month comes to an end, we encourage you to learn more and get involved with us.

Congratulations to all our SeedCorps AmeriCorps Members who completed their service terms today!

The graduating members of this program have overseen volunteers in warehouse food box builds, lead drive-thru mobile food pantries, expanded food bank services and so much more!

We are extremely grateful to all of them for the dedication they have shown in the midst of many unique trials and tribulations. Their commitment to serving New Mexicans facing hunger over the past year has been inspiring. We wish them all the best in their future endeavors!

“Being part of AmeriCorps for me means being part of a team where anyone from anywhere can come together and make a positive difference in our community. It has been an eye opening journey that will never be forgotten.”

Liana became a SeedCorps member in spring of 2021 and joined both the response team and the nutrition team. Liana served alongside her Las Cruces teammates at rural mobile food pantries from Deming to Chaparral. She also supported Casa de Peregrinos by assisting at their monthly rural sites. Liana contributed to the nutrition team by bringing in her knowledge and passion for indigenous foods of New Mexico and her background in food service. Liana will graduate from the SeedCorps AmeriCorps program at the end of this month and we will really miss her!

Together, we can solve hunger.

For 40 years, Roadrunner Food Bank has been serving New Mexico and working to end hunger in our state.

Roadrunner® Food Bank of New Mexico, a Feeding America member, is the largest non-profit dedicated to solving food insecurity in New Mexico. As a food distribution hub, we provide food to hundreds of affiliated member partners around the state including food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters and regional food banks.

We also distribute food through specialized programs helping children, families and seniors at schools, low-income senior housing sites, senior centers and with and through health care partnerships. Every week 70,000 hungry children, seniors and families are reached through this statewide hunger relief network. We are working together with our partners, volunteers and contributors to end food insecurity and hunger in New Mexico.

Thank you to Road Runner Food Bank: Johnny: delivery beautiful. Deep gratitude for the healthy food choices for families that desire the food. Thank you. Algodones Elementary School NM
Today is giving Tuesday, as the holiday approaches a donation to Road Runner Food Bank will help New Mexico Families.
My family and I love supporting Road Runner Food Bank. I volunteer and donate. When I was young my dad once left food on the door step of a needy family. My dad grew up poor too. He never said a word as he left the food. That act of kindness has stayed with me for 50 years! That is why Road Runner is such a meaningful charity for me.
When are you closed in July
