Every June, we celebrate Immigrant Heritage Month in recognition of the countless cultural, economic, and social contributions that immigrants bring to the United States. At Emerge New Mexico, we are proud to work with immigrant populations every year as we work to diversify the leadership in our state. At Emerge NM, we work every year with LGBTQIA+ women and non-binary leaders who shape their communities and choose to run for public office. Every June 12, we commemorate and celebrate Loving Day in recognition of the 1967 United States Supreme Court decision Loving v. Virginia, which struck down state bans on in*******al marriage. After only 59 years of these bans, we are reminded that the freedom to marry who you choose came more recently than we would like to imagine, and that the battle for true freedom remains today.

At Emerge New Mexico, we are proud to stand in support of everyone’s freedom to choose who they love and marry, regardless of race, gender, orientation, or identity. We remain committed to promoting freedom and democracy, and we will train the next generation of New Mexico leaders to take us in that direction.💙

The third session of the 2026 Signature Program was another success!

We want to thank all our esteemed instructors who came to impart their wisdom and guidance for our cohort to use on their pursuits of public office. We want to especially thank Jessica Martinez, Director of Policy & Coalition Building at the NM Immigrant Law Center, for her session on campaigning for immigrant rights and justice. We also want to thank André Gonzales, Democracy & Truman-Albright Fellow, for his session on campaigning for education justice.

Meet the Emergistas running opposed in the 2026 Primary!

The primary elections are coming up, and every year Emerge NM is proud to see some of our alumni running for public office. This year, 16 Emergistas who were Signature Program and bootcamp participants will be running opposed for various offices, from county sheriff to New Mexico Governor. We are so proud to have been a small part of their journeys throughout the last 20 years, and we will continue to provide the guidance and tools to future generations of New Mexico leaders seeking public office.💙
