OLÉ Member Ivydel Natachu was featured in the New York Times this week! Ivydel is an early educator who is part of the state-wide movement to increase wages for early educators, who aren't fairly compensated for their expertise.

"Ms. Natachu said that during the pandemic, she saw colleagues quit after just a few weeks on the job, lured away by easier, higher-paid jobs in other fields. She said that given their expertise in child development, child-care workers ought to be paid like public-school teachers."

U.S. District Judge Lisa G. Wood rejected plea deals for Travis McMichael and his father Gregory McMichael on federal hate crime charges in the murder of Ahmaud Arbery.

Arbery's family expressed their disappointment in the Justice Department's plea agreements with the McMichaels, pointing to the fact that the plea deal could have allowed the McMichaels to spend 30 years of their sentences in a federal prisonβ€”arguably a significant step up from state prison.

Wanda Cooper-Jones, Arbery's mother, said she was steadfast in denying the Justice Department's deal, according to the Associated Press.

'I fought so hard to get these guys in the state prison. I told them very, very adamantly that I wanted them to go to state prison and do their time. Then I got up this morning and found out they had accepted this ridiculous plea,' she said.

According to The New York Times, Judge Wood gave the McMichaels until Friday to figure out whether they would plead guilty.

Travis and Gregory McMichael, along with William Bryan, were found guilty of murder in Georgia state court back in November 2021.

"So, what happens in Roe falls?"

We get this question often and we don't have to theorize - we are seeing it happen in real time. Our Texas patients fly as far as Maine to get the care they need. Some stay with relatives in New Mexico and receive abortion pills. And some are forced to stay pregnant against their will. Roe was never enough protect us, and while protecting it's legality is important, we're looking for ways to make abortion meaningfully accessible.

We need to build a future with . That means patients don't have to travel thousands of miles to receive care. That means abortion is financially accessible. That means your zip code, income, race, and gender identity to play factors in your access to abortion. That means patients are treated with dignity and love and respect.
