Over the weekend APD partnered with Children's Cancer Fund of New Mexico for the HERO Academy. For this one day event, the children worked out with the APD Cadets. Afterwards, they got to see and interact with different APD specialized units and AFR throughout the day. At the end of the Academy the children that participated received a certificate at the graduation ceremony. Thank you to our sponsors for this event Kaufman's West and Domino's Pizza.
Today is National Nonprofit Day!

Hello everyone,
My colleague Kim Hager and I are interested in studying the experiences and barriers to accessing mental health services for families. For the purpose of our research, we intend to compare three groups – caregivers of children with one or more mental health conditions (developmental difficulties as well), caregivers of children with mental health conditions and common medical conditions, and caregivers of children with mental health conditions and rare diseases. Caregivers include biological parents, adoptive parents, foster parents, step-parents, guardians and kinship homes with children under the age of 18. The survey is nationwide and open to families who live anywhere within the United States. The hope is the survey results will assist mental health providers in tailoring services to meet families’ needs. The study was approved by the IRB and survey is anonymous. Please help us by filling out the survey and/or sharing it.

I would like to donate, if I could get an address to send it to the fund.

What a fantastic day for Auriana!

First, there was a police es**rt to the hospital without any stops at the red lights so she could ring the bell in clinic to celebrate her End of Treatment! Then it was outside where she was greeted by most of her friends and family from Los Lunas, Jackie Tony Donnie, Albuquerque Fire Rescue with a firetruck, Albuquerque Police Department's Mounted Horse Unit, Make-A-Wish New Mexico, Children's Cancer Fund of New Mexico, the medical team from UNMH as well as KRKE. She was awarded State Auditor for the Day by Brian S. Colón, the State Auditor. Thank you everyone for making Auriana's day extra special!
