Warrior to Soul Mate (W2SM) is a skills based program for veteran couples with the primary aim of strengthening trust and commitment to enjoy a more loving and healthy relationship. The goal is to live together more joyfully, with compassion, goodwill and trust.
It is not "therapy" in the strict sense, although it has tremendous therapeutic value. By participating in Warrior to Soul Mate, the couple will learn the behaviors, attitudes, and tools for effective communication, a strengthened connection, ability to confide, and conflict resolution. The program is research based and has been used at the VA since 2008. We have been offering W2SM at the Albuquerque VA since 2016.

How does VA increase Veterans’ access to clinical care? One way is through the VHA-Uber Health Connect (VUHC) initiative, which is aimed directly at addressing transportation needs and is available to all Veterans who are beneficiary travel eligible.
From January 2022 to March 2023, this initiative provided more than 30K Uber rides across 408,529 miles for Veterans. 82% of participants surveyed stated that they would not have had other means of transportation to and from their appointments without VUHC and 91% said they would recommend the program to another Veteran. VA, through DEAN, is meeting Veterans where they are. Read more at https://bddy.me/3sSbVqN.

WORLD LETTER WRITING DAY September 1, 2022 at the ALBUQUERQUE FISHER HOUSE. Founded by Australian author Richard Simpkin in 2014. His main goal was to encourage people of all ages to take a break from social media and write a letter to someone instead of messaging them. Thank you to the Metro Rotary Club of Albuquerque for sponsoring this observance. On behalf of the Metro Rotary Club, Tina Reames and Kathleen Cody brought a beautiful basket filled with lovely stationery, all occasion cards, pens, tea, and cookies. Our families enjoyed the day choosing their favorite cards for the individuals they are thinking of. These gifts are a welcome reminder to our Fisher House families that they can find the warm comforts of home during a time of medical procedures or treatment, and emergencies. The Albuquerque Fisher House has been providing a "home away from home" to eligible Military or Veteran family members since October 2019. To date, the Albuquerque Fisher House has welcomed more than 360 Veteran and Military families, saving them over $250,000 in lodging costs. Her gift was a welcome reminder for families who find themselves at the Fisher House.
