Good evening wonderful humans.
Many of us who work in difficult fields that provide mental, emotional, and physical healing, and advocacy to those who have suffered from traumas; can sometimes almost always trigger those personal traumas of our own.

We’ve all had a very trying year. Sometimes, we can forget to practice self-care and mindfulness for our very own selves - leading ya to feeling inadequate not only in our careers, but also in our personal lives.

RCCCNM’s Counseling Department would like to help. They have set up a “Virtual Mindfulness” zoom group. It’s completely free, and open to all providers in the field. Please see flyer above and contact the department by email or phone for more information.

Take this opportunity now, and help yourself become grounded and mindful again. We’re also here for you. Advocating for survivors, and advocating for providers.🌱

HAPPY FRIDAY BEAUTIFUL SOULS!☀️🕶

To kick off the weekend, we would like to share some positivity with you all this afternoon. The wonderful Mussar Maidens have yet again gifted us with their most warmhearted efforts in creating 30 more Survivor Bags for our clients who visit the FAC for a SANE Medical Examination.

Each bag is thoughtfully packed with items such as fuzzy socks, candles, journals, lip balm, toiletries, and stuffed animals/ coloring books (kids bags). We feel that these bags have the ability to give survivors a sense of comfort, strength, and inspiration. For that we are ever grateful to this wonderful group of Messianic women in their willingness to help the community.

Thank you, @Lydia Dianne for the amazing work you do, and the gracious heart you have. All of us here at RCCCNM appreciate everything! 💙

For more information on how you can get involved in donating items for putting together these survivor bags, contact our Development Associate - Veronica Flores at [email protected] or our Volunteer Services Director - Stephanie Griego at [email protected].

Happy Juneteenth!

For those who do not know the value today holds, today in 1865 the last American slaves were freed (and the 13th Amendment was ratified in December of that year)! Although the Emancipation Proclamation had taken effect two and a half years prior, not every state followed through immediately. Texas was the last state to free all enslaved people, and now June 19th is a day to celebrate the ending of slavery.

In 2006, New Mexico was the 19th state to recognize Juneteeth as a holiday. Though it is not recognized as a national holiday, most states have recognized it as a state holiday or ceremonial holiday!

Today, we would like to extend our most gracious gratitude towards towards the Del Norte Rotary Foundation for their continued support in awarding us 2020's grant program opportunity!

These funds will be used to support our volunteer advocacy program which allows individuals to continue to provide support to sexual assault survivors in a professional, respectful, and empathetic manner. It will be used to help create further survivor bags that are distributed to clients who have experienced trauma from sexual violence.

Without the support of kindhearted community organizations like the Del Norte Rotary club, we would not be able to accomplish such tasks. Thank you for your continuing support, we are very excited to have yet another amazing group of individuals stand by our mission to advocate for survivors, and eventually end sexual violence in out community!
