Get help from your state paying your Medicare Part A (Hospital Insurance) and Part B (Medical Insurance) premiums through a Medicare Savings Program. If you qualify, Medicare Savings Programs might also pay your Part A and Part B deductibles, coinsurance, and copayments.
SHIP can check your eligibility and help you apply for Medicare Savings Programs through your state. When you apply, your state determines which program(s) you qualify for. You may still qualify for these programs even if your income or resources are higher than the limits listed. Some states don’t count certain types or specific amounts of income or resources when deciding who qualifies.
When you break it down, the work of our state government is really about people helping people. To see for yourself how the people and state agencies help to advance the lives of New Mexicans, visit NM.GOV.

The federal law that created Medicare benefits has specific provisions that exclude coverage for certain things, like dental care, routine vision services, and certain long-term care services.
Here are some resources and information about other ways of accessing or paying for these services.
Go to yes.nm.gov to find out more resources and info about what HSD's Behavioral Health Services Division is all about!
If you have questions about Medigap policies your NM SHIP is ready to help. Call 1-800-432-2080.
Medigaps are health insurance policies that offer standardized benefits to work with Original Medicare (not Medicare Advantage). They are sold by private insurance companies. If you have a Medigap, it pays part or all of certain remaining costs (the gaps) after Original Medicare pays first. Medigaps may also cover health care costs that Medicare does not cover at all, like care received when traveling abroad.
Remember, Medigaps only work with Original Medicare. If you have a Medicare Advantage Plan, you cannot buy a Medigap.
Contact your State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) to learn about the Medigap rules in your state and to get help comparing plan costs and options.
Send us your recipes by tomorrow! :)

Happy Residents Rights Month! Meet New Mexico Ombudsman Volunteer Rosalie she discusses her role and the joys of volunteerism. Residents of long-term care facilities sometimes have little or no contact with the outside world. Many feel they lack control over their lives. A friendly volunteer who visits regularly can be a bright spot in an elderly resident's day. Many residents are alone and would be very happy to have your visits. This may also help ensure they get good care if someone from the community is looking in on them regularly. If you or someone you know have 3 hours a week to volunteer in our Long Term Care Facilities Please visit https://nmaging.state.nm.us/.../ombu.../ombudsman-volunteers Or call 800-432-2080 for more information.
