Everyone deserves to feel safe, respected, and supported. And it can be hard to determine if something is going on with an aging adult you love. Signs of abuse, neglect, or exploitation can feel scary, and you might not be sure how to go about reporting it.

If you suspect elder abuse in New Mexico, you can report it to Adult Protective Services. Call 866-654-3219 or make a report online at aging.nm.gov. You do not need proof to report, and your call can help protect someone in need.

Knowing the signs and taking action helps keep our communities safe.

Food for aging New Mexicans on SNAP may look a little different starting in January, 2026.

New federal rules mean some adults ages 55 to 64 may need to report 80 hours of work, training, or volunteering each month to keep their benefits. Many people are still exempt, including those 65 and older and individuals with disabilities.

You can learn what this means for you at hca.nm.gov/snapchanges or call (800) 283-4465.
