Congratulations are in order for Metropolitan Detention Center Officers Jessica Roybal and K-9 Kobe! The pair recently took home second place in the Kirtland Airforce Base Military Working Dog Competition in the category of drug detection.

In addition to dominating in competitions such as this one, Officer Roybal and Kobe play a vital role helping to keep MDC safe.

Today, the Metropolitan Detention Center Honor Guard took part in the New Mexico Law Enforcement memorial service in Santa Fe, honoring the brave men and women of our state who made the ultimate sacrifice in the service and protection of others.

Thank you to the NM Law Enforcement Academy for the honor of participating in this event. And thank you to the families of those fallen men and women.

National Correctional Officers Week ends today, and MDC once again recognizes the work of our officers and staff. Their dedication to mission and community is tireless and MDC is honored that they are part of this family. Thank you, officers, for yesterday, today, and tomorrow!

Corrections officers earn $22.37 an hour while completing the academy, and $23.50 after graduation. After completing one year as a probationary employee, officers earn $24.67.

New officers receive a $5,000 hiring incentive and experienced officers can receive up to $10,000!
