The Office of Immigrant and Refugee Affairs (OIRA) is an office within the City of Albuquerque created to connect immigrants and refugees to opportunities within our community that will assist them in advancing their social and economic mobility. Objectives include but are not limited to, 1) Connecting immigrants and refugees to culturally-relevant, linguistically appropriate services within city government; 2) Creating opportunities within city libraries, community centers, and other public spaces to engage immigrants and refugees; 3) Developing networks of community-based service providers to meet the comprehensive needs of immigrants and refugees; 4) Strengthen city policy as it relates to immigrant and refugee rights. OIRA will be a central point of contact within city government to assist in navigating community resources, including legal services, workforce development, early childhood, business development, and other wraparound support services to strengthen families.

City of Albuquerque Office of Immigrant and Refugee Affairs (OIRA) is co-hosting and streaming the town hall live on their page.

Albuquerque, NM – City Councilor Lan Sena and the Office of Immigrant and Refugee Affairs (OIRA) are inviting community members, especially those whose primary language is Vietnamese or Spanish, to join a Facebook Town Hall Meeting on Thursday at 4:00 PM for Vietnamese and 6:00 PM for Spanish. Councilor Sena and OIRA are hosting these town hall meetings to get the latest COVID-19 related information to Albuquerque residents whose primary language is Vietnamese or Spanish.

This week’s Town Hall will focus on evictions and the Census. Guests will include Consumer Protections Director Karen Meyers and Office of Equity and Inclusion Deputy Director Vicente Quevedo. They will provide updates and resources related to this public health emergency and to answer questions from the community.
