City of Albuquerque - Office of Immigrant and Refugee Affairs The Office of Immigrant and Refugee Affairs (OIRA) is an office within the City of Albuquerque created to connect immigrants and refugees to opportunities.

The Office of Immigrant and Refugee Affairs (OIRA) is an office within the City of Albuquerque created to connect immigrants and refugees to opportunities within our community that will assist them in advancing their social and economic mobility. Objectives include but are not limited to, 1) Connecting immigrants and refugees to culturally-relevant, linguistically appropriate services within city government; 2) Creating opportunities within city libraries, community centers, and other public spaces to engage immigrants and refugees; 3) Developing networks of community-based service providers to meet the comprehensive needs of immigrants and refugees; 4) Strengthen city policy as it relates to immigrant and refugee rights. OIRA will be a central point of contact within city government to assist in navigating community resources, including legal services, workforce development, early childhood, business development, and other wraparound support services to strengthen families.

BERNALILLO COUNTY HAS IDENTIFIED $1.4 MILLION EMERGENCY RELIEF FUNDS TO SUPPORT BERNALILLO COUNTY RESIDENTS IMPACTED BY THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC.

The program will offer one-time payments of $500 to qualifying Bernalillo County families who are experiencing hardship directly tied to the pandemic. Upon successful completion of the application, the direct assistance will be awarded on a first come, first serve basis. Reimbursement is not required for recipients. To qualify for this program, individuals must meet the following requirements:

Eligibility Overview:

Must be a Bernalillo County resident
Experienced hardship as a result of COVID‐19 (loss of job, hours, reduction in income etc.)
-Low‐Income households at or below 150% of the Federal Poverty Level
-Must be ineligible for federal stimulus payments and unemployment benefits

MFA is accepting applications through this Friday, January 8, 5:00 pm, for rent and mortgage assistance for households who have experienced a COVID-19 related financial hardship:

"Recipients will receive as much as $1,500 per month for up to three months to pay past-due rent or mortgage payments. In addition, payments on real estate contracts, mobile or manufactured home liens and the land or lots on which they are located may also be covered."

Apply online (see web page link below) if possible. If you can't apply online, you can call 308-4206 to request that a paper application be emailed to you. Anyone who received CARES Act COVID-19 rent or mortgage assistance from MFA previously cannot apply again. Info is found on the COVID-19 Housing Assistance Program page of NM MFA's website: https://housingnm.org/static/covid-assistance. In the first paragraph there is a link to a summary "factsheet."

Applications and documentation can be mailed in if postmarked no later than January 8, or you can drop off the application at:

Note: If your application is incomplete, you will be given 10 calendar days to submit the missing information.

Tenga en cuenta:

• No necesita un "código de evento".

The Department of Health is rolling out Phase 1A of the COVID-19 Vaccine. The Department of Health is vaccinating as many of the 1A populations as possible before transitioning to the next phase. If you have not yet been vaccinated, please consider registering today at https://cvvaccine.nmhealth.org/.

Please note:

• You do not need an “event code.”
• As you “register,” please indicate that your occupation is either a “Healthcare” worker, “Congregate Care” or “First Responder” if you are in Phase 1A. If this is not given as an option, visit https://cvvaccine.nmhealth.org/my-registration.html and enter the code that was emailed or texted to you to complete your registration. If a confirmation code was not sent to you, click on "Do not know your confirmation code?" to receive it.
• There is limited availability, so you will be notified when there is vaccine inventory at a location near you.
