Sheriff Manuel Gonzales III Announces New Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office Smartphone App

Today, Bernalillo County Sheriff Manuel Gonzales III is excited to announce the release of a smartphone application. The app will serve as a new way for BCSO to connect with Bernalillo County residents and visitors, providing information quickly and efficiently to anyone with a smartphone, and a way for BCSO to receive information from the community.
The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office Smartphone app was developed by TheSheriffApp.com, a division of OCV, LLC. The app offers quick access to items of public interest and is easy to use.

In just a few clicks, users can:
● Submit a tip
● Access COVID-19 updates and resources
● Browse recent arrests
● Receive push notifications
● View the most wanted criminals in Bernalillo County
● Connect to BCSO’s social media platforms
● Read the latest news and press releases
● Research sex offenders in the area
● And much more!

To further engage the community in public safety, anyone with the app can use the "Share" feature to forward alerts and download links to friends, family, and neighbors.

“Technology is evolving and so are we,” said Sheriff Manuel Gonzales III. "With today's technological advances, it is critical to keep up with technology in order to stay connected with our communities and citizens. People are accustomed to getting news alerts/information in real-time, and that remains true for law enforcement and public safety information. During these unprecedented times it is even more important to communicate efficiently with the community."

The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office mobile app was created by TheSheriffApp.com, a division of OCV, LLC, which specializes in mobile app development for sheriff’s offices and public safety organizations across the country. “More and more public safety agencies are realizing the opportunity they have to reach and serve their public where they are…on their smartphones,” saidKevin Cummings, Vice President with OCV. “We are proud to serve BCSO and the citizens of Bernalillo County.”

The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office app is free and available for download in the App Store and Google Play by searching “Bernalillo Sheriff NM”.

Today the Sheriff’s Office conducted a Gang Recognition Intelligence patrol in the South Valley. So much respect goes out to Mr. Albert Scott who stopped after work to check if he had any outstanding warrants for traffic citations, fortunately he did not! To his surprise, he was sent off with a pizza and two sports drinks courtesy Albertsons and BCSO!

Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office Field Deputies Respond to Armed Robbery in the South Valley and Successfully Locate and Arrest Offenders

Albuquerque, NM – On June 28, 2020 the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office South Area Command field deputies responded to an armed robbery which occurred at the 7-11 Convenience Store located at 4321 Coors Blvd. It was reported that a male suspect, later identified as Angel Saenz, entered the store and went to the cash register with an energy drink where he then asked the clerk about alcohol and cigarettes. At one point, Angel pointed a firearm at the clerk and left the store with $46.16 in cash from the register along with the energy drink. Saenz was seen getting into the passenger side of a green Chrysler 300 which then left the scene. Through a thorough investigation and diligent attempt to locate the offending vehicle, deputies successfully located and conducted a high-risk stop of the vehicle near the area of Isleta Blvd. and Saunders Rd. Both Saenz and the driver of the vehicle, Luis Armas, were taken into custody and booked on charges of Armed Robbery and Conspiracy.

“During this time while our community’s crime crisis remains incredibly unstable, I want Bernalillo County businesses and citizens to know we are working nonstop to protect them,” said Sheriff Manuel Gonzales III. “BCSO is fully staffed and committed on combating violent crime and holding all offenders accountable, especially when they prey on our businesses and innocent victims.”
Later, a search warrant of the vehicle was conducted by Violent Crimes Detectives and the firearm which appeared to have an altered serial number was located inside along with the stolen energy drink. The firearm is currently being processed for evidence.

***PRESS RELEASE*** Sheriff Manuel Gonzales III Announces Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office Detectives Solve Auto Burglary of KOB 4 News Vehicle and Recover $5,000 In Stolen Equipment

Albuquerque, NM - On June 19th, 2020 While interviewing an arrestee that stemmed from a call for service in the South Area Command of Bernalillo County, Community Action Team (CAT) detectives received credible information regarding a recent burglary that had occurred to a KOB 4 News Van. Reliable information was provided that the suspect, Justin Baca, was currently on probation. The New Mexico Probation and Parole Department (PPD) was contacted and informed of the information received about their current subject. PPD decided to conduct a house check and asked for BCSO to assist for scene security reasons. PPD conducted their house check without incident and about $5,000 of the stolen merchandise was recovered.

"I am proud of the collaborative effort of our detectives and their diligent work to combat crime throughout Albuqueruqe” said Sheriff Manuel Gonzales III, “collaborative policing emphasizes proactive problem solving."

Justin Baca was arrested regarding PPD’s investigation and observed violations. The burglary investigation will be taken over and conducted by BCSO CAT detectives once PPD is done processing their investigation in days to come. The victim, a news photographer for KOB 4, was notified of the recovery and will be able to get their property back. They were very grateful for BCSO and PPD’s quick response in locating and recovering their equipment.

06/17/2020

A new FBI Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force welcomed six Bernalillo County law enforcement officers to its ranks after they were deputized.

Special Agent in Charge James Langenberg of the Albuquerque FBI Division swore in four Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office deputies and two Second Judicial District Attorney's Office criminal investigators at the FBI field office on Monday.

The officers are authorized to help investigate federal crimes for the multi-agency task force, which was created in April.

"The FBI depends on its partnerships with federal, state, local, and tribal agencies to help us protect our communities," SAC Langenberg said. "This task force will focus on crimes against some of the most vulnerable members of our society, children and human trafficking victims. We expect it will make as big a contribution to public safety as our violent crime and gang task forces have done."

"BCSO understands that we have a great responsibility to help protect the children in our community and we are grateful for our collaborative partnerships with federal law enforcement like the FBI," Sheriff Manuel Gonzales III said.

“This partnership with the FBI is another example of the innovative and community-focused work of the DA’s Crime Strategies Unit (CSU) to protect victims and fight human trafficking,” said Kyle Hartsock, CSU Special Agent in Charge for the Second Judicial District Attorney’s Office.

Other agencies participating on the FBI Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force are the FBI, U.S. Attorney's Office, New Mexico Attorney General's Office, New Mexico State Police, and Albuquerque Police Department.

The FBI has seen a significant increase in child exploitation and human trafficking cases in New Mexico in the last few years.

Anyone aware of child exploitation or human trafficking is asked to immediately call the FBI at (505) 889-1300 or send information online at tips.fbi.gov.

Officer Martin is my hero! Thank you for your help today!
Is the sheriff going to let the governor get away with a totally unlawful order?
I am so very thankful for the deputies White and Mirabal and the dispatcher (I did not get her name) who sent these deputies to me. They came to assist looking for my 80+ yo parents who were stranded in a ditch near the Rio Puerco. These two offices searched the area for my parents who had been stranded for over 5 hours. Despite not finding them in the area where we thought they were, these officers continued to follow information until they finally located them - at home! It seems a good Samaritan assisted along with off-duty Laguna Policeman, Isaiah Kelsey, to drag them out of what was actually the riverbed, not a ditch. Thank you is not enough!
