Community is at the heart of everything we do at Casa Esperanza! Community is neighbors helping neighbors, organizations giving back, volunteers sharing their time, and donors investing in families they may never meet. It means all of us coming together to ensure the families staying at Casa feel at home.

Thank you to US Eagle Federal Credit Union for showing up every month to feed the families staying at Casa Esperanza. You are a huge part of our community! After a day spent at the hospital families appreciate coming back to a warm meal! We couldn’t do the work we do without our amazing Community Partners!

Meet Violet and Nicole! They both are work study students and are starting their second years at Casa Esperanza and at UNM! You will them helping The Family Care Team, making dinner, giving tours, and jumping in wherever they are needed!

Violet was asked why Casa and she said “I like to work at Casa because I love the people and how it really is a 2nd home. Giving someone a place to stay during such a difficult time makes a huge difference!”
Fun fact: She has been to 7 different countries outside of the U.S.

Nicole also was asked why Casa and said “As a work-study student, I enjoy working at the front desk for a nonprofit because it allows me to connect with and serve the New Mexico community. As a young professional, I've gained a better understanding of the people and organizations that make a difference across our region. Furthermore, it’s has inspired me to continue giving back both through my career and my education, but keep me grounded of the state I come from.
Fun fact: She loves karaoke!

If you’ve stayed at Casa Esperanza you’ve met Mike!

Mike makes sure the facilities and grounds of Casa Esperanza are looking great and maintained! Mike has been at Casa for over 30 years and is the longest employee in our history. Mike likes making a difference and helping everyone he meets!

Fun fact: Mike loves camping, being on the water, and hanging out with his wife and their pack of dogs!

Meet Sarah our new Adminastrative Assistant!

When asked why Casa Esperanza Sarah said:
“As a native NM, I like working with an organization that not only works with the community, but actively gives back to the community through volunteering, education and stewardship.”

Meet the Staff- Michelle

Michelle is the newest member of the Family Care Team. Did you know all 3 Family Care Team employees are fluent in Spanish and English? They do an amazing job making sure everyone that enters Casa Esperanza feels at home!

When Michelle was asked what she loves about working at Casa she said,
“I love Casa Esperanza because we get to help people, everyone needs a helping hand sometimes and it feels good to be part of a place that’s making a difference.”

FUN FACT: Michelle muralist and multimedia Artist and has done some amazing pieces around town! 🎨🖌️She loves painting with bright colors! When she is not painting she is probably watching movies or thrifting.

Meet The Staff- Carlos

Carlos has been at Casa Esperanza for over a year and is part of the Family Care Team! When you enter the doors of Casa Esperanza your first point of contact is the Family Care Team. They assure every patient and their families feel at home during their stay at Casa!

When asked why he likes working at Casa Carlos said,
“What I love about working at Casa is being able to help alleviate some of the burden for patients and families who are going through difficult situations. Providing them with a place to stay helps in many ways and makes their journey a little easier.”

FUN FACT: 🍿📽️🛩️He enjoys watching horror & Harry Potter movies. He likes to travel, go out to eat, and go to the movie theater 🍽️🎭

Meet the Staff! Today is the Family Care Team!

Our Family Care Team is so much more than just the front desk! They are the first face residents see when coming home to Casa Esperanza. They assure patients and their families have everything they need for their stay and go above and beyond to assure everyone feels at home.

Esmerelda has been at Casa Esperanza for 2 years as part of the Family Care Team. When asked why Casa Esperanza she said,
“I love what we do at Casa Esperanza. Having gone through the loss of a loved one due to cancer, I understand how important receiving treatment is. Being able to help make that journey a little easier for families is truly a calling. I love the bonds we have built with our guests and the feeling that Casa Esperanza is like a second home.”

Meet Leslie Sullivan Casa Esperanza’s Director of Operations and Community Outreach.

Leslie started at Casa Esperanza running the vehicle donation program. She was looking to get back into the nonprofit world and Casa Esperanza seemed like the perfect fit. Over the last 5 years her role at Casa has evolved, she continues to run the Give Hope A Ride Program, Casa Esperanza Operations, and does community Outreach.
When asked her why Leslie said,
“My why changes everyday. My why is the families currently in house, I’ve seen first hand the impact we are making. High risk pregnancies, cancer patients, transplants, accidents, everyday it changes, but so many people need us and I’m here because of them.”
🎉 Fun Fact: Leslie has 4 children ranging from 3 to 19. Her 3 and 4 year old were both born while she has been at Casa.🎉

Meet Bill C**n our Executive Director!

Bill joined Casa Esperanza in May and hit the ground running, bringing passion, leadership, and a deep personal connection to our mission.

When asked why he wanted to serve at Casa Esperanza Bill shared:
“I am here serving at Casa Esperanza to help those that need us most. As my family has been through the same journey, I serve in honor of their memory. Casa leaves a lasting impression on the lives on New Mexico residents.”
