Jury Convicts 28-Year-Old Man of Murdering 60-Year-Old Albuquerque Man
A Bernalillo County jury late Friday afternoon convicted 28-year-old Jarrett Chacon of the murder of 60-year-old Larry Norsworthy. The jury convicted Chacon of First-Degree Murder, Aggravated Burglary, Robbery, Conspiracy to Commit Aggravated Burglary, Conspiracy to Commit Robbery, and Tampering with Evidence.
The murder occurred on April 3, 2023, at Norsworthy’s apartment in the 200 block of Charleston in Northeast Albuquerque.
Chacon was armed with a fi***rm and fatally beat Norsworthy with the weapon. Following the murder, Chacon took Norsworthy’s wallet, credit cards, cell phone, and a new pair of tennis shoes before fleeing in Norsworthy’s vehicle with his girlfriend.
Chacon’s girlfriend, Jasmine Trujillo, previously pleaded guilty to second-degree murder, aggravated burglary and conspiracy. She was sentenced to 25 years in prison and agreed to testify against Chacon.
Bernalillo County District Attorney Sam Bregman praised the jury and prosecutors for holding Chacon accountable for Norsworthy’s death.
“This verdict is an important step toward justice for Larry Norsworthy and his family,” District Attorney Sam Bregman said. “Nothing can undo the pain and loss caused by this terrible crime, but holding the person responsible accountable is an important part of the justice process. I am grateful to the prosecutors, law enforcement, and everyone who worked to ensure that the facts of this case were heard in court.”
Chacon now faces a life sentence in the New Mexico Corrections Department.
