The Chicagoland region is massive. This is just one traffic violation response, but if we're to have communities that are truly walkable, accessible, and bike-friendly then our civic leaders have to "lead" on issues just like this one.

In an earlier post, it was suggested smaller/safer motor vehicles play a positive role in safer streets. Check out these two photos from Craigslist. The sellers felt compelled to put the bikes for sale in front of their parked pick-up trucks (new & late model), then took the picture to post. I ask you, do these motor vehicles look safe to you?

How does a collision like this happen???
There is a bright light shining directly on the reporter. Even if the bright light created glaring for the driver -or- if the driver has low vision at night, etc the driver needs to stop if they are unable to see--not drive anyway and hope for the best.
According to the article, the reporter stated “I thought I was going under the wheel". Imagine having that thought run through your mind. One word, terror. Further, the reporter stated this type of collision happened to her when she was in college as well. Twice???
Interestingly, it was stated the reporter felt compelled to comfort the driver! - For what? Being a fool??
I understand, the reporter was attempting to stay composed on live
TV. She was being very gracious. As for the driver? The apologies don't cut it. Enough motorist nonsense! No more excuses! ...More accountability!
Intrepid TV reporter Tori Yorgey shocked viewers when she was struck by a car during a live broadcast Wednesday, but she seamlessly bounced right back up to finish her report.
