We are deeply saddened by the sudden passing of Superintendent Scott Mahoney of the Delaware County Courthouse & Park Police. Superintendent Mahoney also served as a part time officer with our Department even after being promoted to lead the Courthouse & Park Police, thus showing his dedication to public service. Most importantly Scott was a tremendous friend to many of us and words cannot express how much he will be missed. Our prayers are with his family during this difficult time.

Pennsylvania’s Move Over Law requires drivers approaching an emergency response area who are unable to safely merge into a lane further away from the response area to slow to at least 20 mph less than the posted speed limit. An emergency response area is where an emergency vehicle has its lights flashing, or where road crews or emergency responders have lighted flares, posted signs, or try to warn travelers.

The Law

Act 105 of 2020, signed on October 29, 2020 and effective 180 days later on April 27, 2021:

Creates a new point system that imposes two points for failure to merge into the lane not next to the emergency response area.
Sets fines at $500 for first-time offenders, $1,000 for a second offense, and $2,000 for a third or subsequent offense.
Requires a 90-day license suspension for a third or subsequent offense. The license suspension also applies to incidents that seriously injure or kill another person. The suspension is six months if the person injured or killed is an emergency service provider or was near a disabled vehicle.
Sets additional fines of up to $10,000 for violators who injure or kill an emergency service responder or a person in or near a disabled vehicle.
Doubled fines for several traffic violations when committed in an emergency response area when first responders are present.
A similar law (Title 75, Section 4572.2) requires motorists to move over or slow down when approaching a stationary trash or recycling truck.

Well this is the 2nd time they threw the snow up on my sidewalk is this how they treat the retired Elderly in Aldan, when I was out shoveling they saw me and then went 20 mph. then the guy brinds my cars ,I want the owner of cleavers snowplowing phone number as this is totally wrong as I was a snow plower for 15 years and know you do not have to go 40 mph to plow snow they make it so hard for me it really is not fair ,$9,000 dollars a year in taxes and this is how the HANDICAPED RETIRED ELDERLY GET TREATED, I WANT THE PHONE NUMBER PLEASE !THIS BRIND EATS YOUR PAINT. And they do all have a switch the you can angle the salt and Brind down to the ground, there is actually chips where I heard my car getting pelted with the salt who's going to pay for this ME ,NOT !!!
This Police Department is NOT keeping the community safe. A 69 year old woman was sexually assaulted by a mentally re****ed 6’5 man, 350 pounds. The police showed up at the residence and refused to immediately place him in a mental institution. While I don’t agree with him being arrested, I do think he should have been removed from the facility and taken to a mental institution at least until the investigation is done. I was told by officer Wyatt (badge 313) that he spoke with the abuser and because he was not aggressive, he is allowing him to stay in the home. I was appalled. He said that Detective Sergeant Zibiello gave that directive, and those were the rules. What about the community at large? Officer Jackson (badge 210) stated it’s nothing they can do because he is not acting aggressive and they must follow their rules. When we arrived at the precinct, Chief Coppola (badge 01) was very rude to me and wanted to know what my problem is because I was writing this review and requesting his badge number. I refused to engage him because I did not want it to escalate. I want to let the Aldan Community know that your tax dollars are not keeping you safe from sexual offenders.
so how is the must wear mask being enforced? i go into the Getting gas station as i am pumping gas a lady pulls up no mask prceeds to go in the store i waited to see if he let her in and he sure did! so the getty is not enforcing this!
officer Jackson is the best!!! 👏💪
on Oct 10th,i had to Leave the town i love to move to Pitt for job reasons,i think Aldan Boro and the the police dept are top notch and second to none,Chief Coppola is a stand up man ,and everyone of the Officers and Detectives are first class,The Boro is a great place to live and from the Mayor to the Boro Secretary and the best and nicest people you will ever have to deal with,so on that note I WILL MISS ALDAN !!!! im sad i had to leave and if i get the chance to come back to where i belong ,i will be there in a heartbeat, thank you for having me and keeping me and my family safe .Lee Murray 😢💔
Please come monitor the traffic on W/E Magnolia since Providence is closed. Cars are rarely doing 25mph; playing chicken as to who is going to yield to who when they come to tight areas, pedestrians aren't being given the right of way; rolling stops....

Hello! Yet another accident on Clifton and Magnolia. I’ve lived here for a decade and can’t even begin to count how many accidents I have heard and witnessed ?live on Glenwood and Magnolia). Has there been any discussion of a 4 way stop sign? I believe Clifton is a state road, so solicit the state. Fellow residents in our area believe there should be a four way stop. Thanks for listening!
