Friends of the Library donated $8,000.00 to the library for the new 2026-7 fiscal year! Your dues and generous donations to Friends, as well as regular book sales, helped fund this gift. Thank you all!

Alden Days was a fun event, as always. Assistant Director Pam Weisler and Friends of the Library and volunteers represented the library in the parade. That's Pam as the Statue of Liberty; what will she come up with next?
At the Tennis Court Park, there was a library/Friends craft tent for kids.
Thank you to all our library volunteers and to DABA and all the participants in this year's celebration!

On July 23, the last of our kids crafts and story hours for the summer took place. The older children, with Pam Weisler of our staff, made pan flutes, while the preschoolers listened to stories about dinosaurs read by Lona Goodrich, another staff member, and colored pages of the same.

July 16 brought young elementary-aged artists to the library as they made leaf rubbings and then painted them. The preschoolers listened to stories about watermelons and then cut and pasted their way to making paper ones.

The second of Thursday kids' summer programs here took place yesterday. Crafts for the older kids was a tissue paper suncatcher, while the littler ones made a lion mask after hearing stories about those furry animals.

Yesterday was the kickoff to our summer children's programs. The story hour for preschoolers had a duck theme, while the elementary-aged kids built a kite. Thanks to our staff presenters, Lona Goodrich and Pam Weisler, our volunteer helpers for the kite craft, and all who attended!

Thursday, June 18, Joel Tacey came by to entertain local families. 94 people attended! Joel put on a fun show centered on summer reading, dinosaurs and paleontology, this year's theme.
