In observance of the Juneteenth holiday, Loudoun County Parks, Recreation and Community Services administrative and park offices, adult day centers, and the Franklin Park Performing and Visual Arts Center will be closed on Friday, June 19, 2026.

Park grounds, including trails, gardens, playgrounds, off-leash areas, skate parks, courts, and fields, are open to the public and provide a wonderful opportunity for families and friends to spend time together.

All recreation and community centers, the Franklin Park Pool, the Lovettsville Community Center Pool, and our splash pads will maintain normal operating hours on June 19.

All senior centers will maintain normal operating hours on June 19. There will be no bus transportation, lunch programs, or home-delivered meals.

Red White and Run on 7/4
Saturday, July 4 - 8:00am to 9:00am
Start your Fourth of July with us for the 3rd Annual Red, White, and Run 5k. This certifies, multi-terrain course will take runners and walkers of all ages throughout the north complex of Hanson Park and is the third race of the Run Your PRCS Parks timed series.

Firefly Dance Party
Friday, July 10 - 7:30pm to 8:30pm
You can glow and dance like a firefly at Hanson Park! Did you ever want to know how a firefly's light works? Learn about bioluminescence and firefly communication. We will play music and dance with glow sticks while we watch the fireflies in the fields.

Starting on Thursday, June 11 and lasting until Sunday, June 14, Hanson Park will be hosting the President's Cup soccer tournament.

This tournament is expected to bring many visitors to the park and increased usage on all of our athletic fields.

Join Hanson Park on June 21 for Play All Day VA! A statewide initiative to celebrate the longest day (the summer solstice) through PLAY!

Visit the Nature Center from 10:00am to 4:00pm and meet our ambassador animals and look at the world through a microscope. Complete our Summer Scavenger Hunt to win a prize. Check out an explorer kit to go on an adventure with binoculars, magnifying glass, bug jar, and more!

Try something new! Slacklining is the sport of balancing between two trees. Meet up from 10:00am to 1:00pm in the forest behind the Nature Center. It can be tricky, but it is a great way to challenge your body. All supplies will be provided.

Dig for buried fossils in our Dino Pit in the forest behind the Nature Center from 7:00am to 9:00pm. Great for young kids to be young paleontologists. Shovels and brushes will be provided.

All activities are FREE and passive; staff may or may not be present. No instruction provided.

Earth is home to many amazing creatures and so is the sky! Learn about the constellation animals and what they can teach us about our home planet. The Planetarium is usually experienced by sitting on a cushion or laying on the floor. Each child must be accompanied by one adult.
