Franklin also was a volunteer firefighter the Aldie VFD for many, many years. Happy 100th birthday!

Members of the Aldie Ruritan Club recently joined in celebrating Franklin Payne’s 100th birthday. Franklin has been a member since 1957 and served as Aldie’s postmaster for 30 years.

UPDATE — SEARCH CONTINUES FOR CAROLYN TAYLOR

LCSO is still actively searching for Carolyn Taylor, an 81-year-old woman who has been missing since yesterday.

Carolyn was last seen on the 18000 block of Foundry Road in Purcellville at approximately 10:40 am on 08/23/26. She is believed to be wearing a blue sweatshirt and blue jeans.

Carolyn is known to nap outdoors, particularly in grassy or wooded areas. LCSO is asking residents in and around the area where she was last seen to do two things on their own property only:

-Walk your backyard, shed, garden, and any brushy or wooded edges of your lot to make sure Carolyn hasn't stopped to rest there.

-Review any security or doorbell camera footage from 10:00 am on 08/23 to the present for any sign of her.
We are not asking for volunteer searchers at this time.

Please do not travel to the area to look for Carolyn. Trained personnel are conducting the search, and additional people in the area can interfere with those efforts. Checking your own property and cameras is the most helpful thing residents can do.

County encourages anyone who may have come into contact with a rabid cat or its kittens in a Chantilly neighborhood to contact their health care provider or the Health Department as soon as possible. Before being taken into custody, the cat and its kittens were observed in the area located near the intersection of Crossfield Drive and Center Street in Chantilly, just west of Loudoun County Parkway. Today, Aldie VFD conducted Emergency Services UTV training for LCFR and Arcola VFD personnel. Training was on local trails and Loudoun County park property. We encountered a variety of trail and field conditions and it was a fun and informative day! Since March 2026, Aldie VFD has trained nearly 70 people from 10 different agencies in emergency UTV operations.

TRAINING ADVISORY: Beginning around 11:00 a.m. on Saturday (5/30), members of the Loudoun County Combined Fire and Rescue System will be conducting training exercises at Broad Run Stream Valley Park in Ashburn. Expect to see fire department personnel and vehicles in the area.
