MCIS would like to make a correction to the honor roll lists for both the 4th quarter and for students who made the honor roll ALL 4 quarters. For some technical reason, there was a mistake when GPAs were calculated for the 4th quarter. Yesterday's list was, therefore, incorrect. Since that list was incorrect, the list used to create the "All 4 Quarter honor roll" awards was incorrect. I am extremely sorry for this mistake. There were many students who unfortunately did not make the 4th quarter honor roll that was posted on Facebook yesterday, which means that there were some students who may have received an award for all 4 quarters that did not actually make it. Additionally, there are some students on the corrected list that were not recognized yesterday and did not receive the 'all 4 quarters' award that they deserved. If that includes your child, I am happy to make up for that by filling out a certificate for your child.

Again, I'm very sorry for the mistake, and I hope you have a great summer!

Dear Mercer County families,

The federal program that has allowed school districts across the country to offer free breakfast and lunch to all students regardless of income will expire on June 30, 2022. Since 2020, this program has eliminated the need to collect payments for school meals for any student.

At this time, the federal government has not extended the waivers for next school year to allow free meals for all students. As a result, schools across the nation will be reverting back to free and reduced-price meals based on income eligibility guidelines set by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

During the 2022-23 school year, families who do not qualify for free or reduced lunch will have to pay for school meals. Students whose families are eligible for free or reduced price breakfast or lunch will be able to access meals next school year at no cost or a discounted rate.

Since this adjustment may create a financial burden on some of our families, we are writing to give you advance notice of this change. Between now and the start of next school year, our Board of Education and District Administration will continue to explore ways we can help families with this adjustment. At no point would we ever want any child to go hungry at school.

At this time, we do not need any information from families. As we have done in the past, we will collect documentation at the time of registration to determine who qualifies for free or reduced meals. We will be in contact closer to registration about what documentation will be needed.

Thank you for all of your support this school year. Let’s end this school year strong and have a great summer! If you have any questions, please contact the district office.

Sincerely,

Scott Petrie
Superintendent

Good morning! I have a couple of pieces of information I wanted to share with you today (***Make sure to scroll down past menu changes for an announcement about awards!!***):

Lunch Menu-On the May calendar, the 20th, 23rd, and 24th were all listed as cook's choice. Here is what will be on the menu for the remaining school days:

Friday-*5th grade field trip-sack lunch* --At the school: Crispito/tomato/lettuce, black beans/rice, salsa, fruit
Monday-Baked chicken, spinach salad, bread stick, fruit, cottage cheese
Tuesday-*sack lunch*-Italian combo sandwich/uncrustable, carrot sticks, cran raisins, cheese stick, chips

************************

On Tuesday, May 24th, our last day, we'll be holding our awards assembly at around 8:10am. (The plan will be to have kids get dismissed from their homeroom to the gym at 8.) We will be notifying parents of students receiving awards, in case they would like to attend, but ALL are welcome, even if your child will not be getting one.

It's been a great year and we can't wait to celebrate on the last day! Lots of fun stuff planned for that day that I'll share next week.

Thanks!
