Aledo has always been shaped by people who care enough to step up and get involved. If you have strong thoughts about how our community is growing, big ideas for where Aledo is headed or simply want to give back to the place you call home, we encourage you to carry that tradition forward.

We currently have openings on the following City boards:

🏗️ Planning & Zoning Commission — Reviews development plans and makes recommendations to City Council on matters like land use and zoning. Meets once a month.

📐 Zoning Board of Adjustment — Considers requests for exceptions to certain zoning requirements. Meets only as needed (which is not often).

💼 Aledo Economic Development Corporation — Supports local business, economic development and opportunities for investment in our community. Meets once a month.

Aledo City Council Meeting Highlights — August 20, 2026

At this meeting, Council took several important steps related to the City's finances and planning for the upcoming fiscal year that begins Oct. 1.

Here’s what happened:

• FY 2027 Budget — Council approved the City's budget for the upcoming fiscal year expanding public safety, street maintenance and community development services.

• Property Tax Rate — Council approved the FY 2027 property tax rate for Tax Year 2026 lowering the tax rate from $0.355353 to $0.352415.

• Property Tax Revenue — Council ratified the property tax revenue increase reflected in the FY 2027 budget.

• Employee Benefits — Council approved the City's employee benefits package for FY 2027.

Before taking action, Council held public hearings on both the proposed budget and property tax rate.

We’re excited to add another way for residents to stay connected to what's happening here at City Hall: livestreaming our City Council and boards and commissions meetings on YouTube! 📺

After a few test runs of the new system, our first official livestream will be tonight, Thursday, Aug. 20, at 6 p.m., for the Aledo City Council meeting.

I think we can all agree that the freeway construction has been a giant headache. And even though these projects are outside the Aledo city limits, our residents, workforce and visitors are all being impacted by what’s happening on I-20 and the access roads.

Every year, the City of Aledo develops a budget that lays out the plan for funding the services, programs and priorities that support our community in the year ahead. Public hearings are part of that process and give residents an opportunity to share their thoughts and feedback with City Council.

At this meeting, City Council will also consider adoption of the proposed FY 2026-27 budget, which takes effect October 1.

Take note that Aledo Police Department will implement a new traffic pattern effective Monday morning to help alleviate congestion during school drop off. See shared post for map and details.

Effective Monday, Aledo PD will implement the traffic plan shown below.
From 7:00–9:00AM, southbound Champions Drive and northbound Point Vista Drive traffic at Bailey Ranch Road will be RIGHT TURN ONLY — no left turns or straight across permitted.

Drivers exiting at Highlands Avenue and Bailey Ranch Road may turn left or right.

This traffic pattern will help officers keep traffic moving smoothly and reduce delays through the area.
