Every year, the City of Aledo develops a budget that lays out the plan for funding the services, programs and priorities that support our community in the year ahead. Public hearings are part of that process and give residents an opportunity to share their thoughts and feedback with City Council.

A recap of last weeks meeting.

Aledo City Council Meeting Highlights — July 16, 2026

Council Work Session
Prior to the regular meeting, City Council discussed upcoming amendments to the City's Food Truck Ordinance following recent changes to Texas law. The discussion included updates required by state law and the City's existing zoning regulations for food trucks. This meeting was discussion-only and no action was taken. A draft ordinance will be presented at a future meeting.

Meeting Highlights

• Recognized July as Park and Recreation Month and honored the Weatherford Mountain Bike Club (pictured) for its partnership in maintaining Aledo's trail system and The Pit.

• Received a presentation from Angie Thompson highlighting the success of the Parker County Connect senior program at the Aledo Community Center, which has served more than 243 participants since launching in April.

• Approved meeting minutes, an amendment to the Parker County dispatch services agreement and the Vice Chair selection for the Aledo Library Board.

• Approved submission of a Texas Water Development Board grant application for Lasater Addition water system improvements.

• Approved updates to the Unified Development Code related to the subdivision development process.

• Approved applying the Manufactured Home zoning designation to the existing Aledo MH Park property.

• Approved a professional services agreement with Freese and Nichols to update the City's Water and Wastewater Master Plan.

• Approved the City's Public Art Program Policy.

• Received the third quarter financial and investment report for Fiscal Year 2026.

• Councilmember Todd Covington recognized the Public Works team for their dedication in responding to multiple emergency water main repairs the previous week, with the Mayor and City Council joining in expressing their appreciation.

REMINDER - City Council Meeting tonight at 6 PM.

Good morning Aledo, attached is the slide deck that Chief Carol Riddle presented to council concerning E-Bikes and Special Motorized Vehicles.

The deck includes the legal definitions of E-Bikes, Golf Carts, ETC. It also includes current state law regarding these type of vehicles.

The last slide presents POINTS of CONSIDERATION.

At this time city council has not taken any action other than to direct staff to provide additional information.

One of the many suggestions that council made was that maybe we could start with education and what that would look like. One idea was to have some sort of meet and great with the citizens and the police department. This could include having the children and parents to bring there e-vehicles for inspection and education and maybe a little competition like a bike rodeo.

Good evening, Aledo, your friendly neighborhood councilmember here.

This Thursday, June 4, 2026, at 6:00 PM the City of Aledo and Council will be discussing:

d. Discussion regarding future Ordinances related to Golf Carts and E-Bikes in the City of Aledo.

As an elected official my job is to represent you at the meetings and to bring your voice forward. I am genuinely interested with what your opinions are about this subject.

Do you want no action taken?

If you do want action taken, what does that look like?

Personally, on three separate occasions I have a near miss with someone on a E something.

This evening while driving north on 1187 I saw a pack of E-Bikes (all wearing helmets) all headed south on the sidewalk at a very high rate of speed. Someone got left behind so they decided to enter 1187 and head south to catch up.

This seems to be an issue that we need to address, and again I would like your feedback.

Good morning City of City Of Aledo today is election day. Unfortunately we have had only 70 or so people come out and vote. Please find time today to be heard and cast your vote. Polls are open from 7AM - 7PM. You can vote at the community center (across from city hall).

📣 Special Election Day is Today – March 31st!

A reminder that the Special Election to fill the Place 4 vacancy on the Aledo City Council is being held today at the Aledo Community Center (104 Robinson Court).

Polls are open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

The three candidates on the ballot for Place 4 are Melanie Allen, Kip Dernovich and Jessica Dobbins.

Local elections play an important role in shaping the services, programs and decisions that impact daily life here in Aledo. Casting your vote allows you to select the candidate you believe will best represent the community and its priorities.

There’s nothing that I can say that has not already been said. He was a good man, till we meet again.

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of beloved Councilman Nelson Rowls. A devoted public servant and cherished member of our community, Nelson’s dedication, kindness and love for Aledo made a lasting difference in the lives of so many. His family has requested privacy at this time, and we honor that as we remember his service and spirit.
