A heat advisory is in effect for all of Central Alabama through Monday and likely continuing into the middle of the week. Daytime highs will be in the 90s to lower 100s with heat indices up to 109. Remember to stay hydrated, reduce time outdoors if possible, & wear light-weight, light colored clothing.

Increasing heat and humidity will lead to dangerously high heat index values over the next several days. This level of long-duration heat affects anyone without effective cooling and/or adequate hydration. For people without effective cooling, this level of heat can be deadly.

Station 2 had to request a little assistance from Station 3 this afternoon to replace the rope on the flagpole. Tower 24 showed up and saved the day.

A heat advisory is in effect Tuesday for all of Central Alabama. Afternoon heat indices each day may go up to 105 to 109 degrees. Remember to stay hydrated & limit strenuous time outdoors in the afternoon. If you have AC, use it. Fans may not be adequate. Wear light-weight, light-colored clothing.
