Mrs. Lisa Darkโ€™s class at Radney Elementary School is taking our 2022 Campaign theme "Hometown Heroes" to heart and putting it into action! The students were asked to think about who is their hometown hero? Their answer? Our first responders. They've written letters to doctors, nurses, police, and firemen. We are so proud of these kids and we LOVE their cards! We know their "heroes" will love them too!

THANK YOU to the 96 volunteers โ€“ community volunteers & leaders, principals, teachers, school administrators and students - who volunteered their time last Friday, June 18 to help clean, paint, landscape and beautify Horseshoe Bend School K-12, Radney Elementary School, Downtown & Main Street Alex City, and a local veteranโ€™s house on a warm June morning! We also had a team build a ramp for a senior citizen last week.

Everything looks so great and both school principals were very appreciative of all the hard work everyone put in to help make their schools look amazing before the next school year starts back up in August. There was a lot of sweat equity put in on Friday by everyone and it did not go unnoticed or unappreciated!

If any of the STUDENT volunteers did pick up a copy of the volunteer hours letter, please let us know and we'll be sure to get one to you.

We are working on gathering photos from several sources and will be posting them over the next couple days, so be on the lookout for them.

We also want to thank our sponsors whose contributions helped make the day a success! Enbridge, Church of the Highlands - Auburn, Russell Lands on Lake Martin, The Home Depot, Alexander City Lions Club, Lake Martin Signature Construction, and County Commissioners T.C. Coley and John Mckelvey

Itโ€™s with a heavy heart that I share what happened yesterday with one of our United Way agencies. The Girls Ranch was involved in a horrific car accident yesterday afternoon on the way back from a mission project and beach trip. 8 children have gone to be with the Lord. The Ranch director is lucky to be alive and in the hospital with multiple injuries. The second van made it back last night with other girls not knowing what had happened. Several are asking how to help. First pray. Second if you would like to donate and can please do. We have set up a designated fund that 100% will go to help them with funeral expenses and other needs. Please go to our website unitedwaylakemartin.org or mail your donation to PO Box 876, Alexander City AL 35011. The ranch is setting up a GO Fund me account as well. Thanks to each of you for your support.

Number of lives touched in Tallapoosa and Coosa counties through one of our United Way agencies and initiatives last year.

06/20/2021

Please be in prayer for the Tallapoosa County Sheriff's Girls Ranch. One of the ranch vans was involved in a horrible accident on I-65 yesterday afternoon. There will be a prayer service at Reeltown today at 1pm.
