The 444.525 repeater was upgraded today to a Motorola MTR-2000. The repeater continues to be multi-mode with support for D-Star, DMR, and Analog. The MTR has a good receiver and has a 100 watt transmitter.

A 24 volt backup system is being installed. The controller is below the repeater. We are working on sourcing 2 75ah batteries.

The VOIP Hurricane Net is linked to 444.525 slot1.

08/28/2021
National Hurricane Center

I'm writing to ARRL members in Alabama, Florida and Georgia - with
specific information about the impending hurricane. This message is
pertinent to people in those areas and may not be applicable to those in
other areas.

Hurricane IDA is expected to affect the people in the ARRL Southeastern
Division in Alabama, the Florida panhandle and perhaps Georgia. At this
time, this is expected to be a large and dangerous Category 4 hurricane
when the center landfalls near Grand Isle, Louisiana. Hurricane-force
winds, torrential rain and potential flooding could be an issue for
hundreds of miles along the coast, and up into Alabama and eventually
Georgia.

For immediate local news about the hurricane, listen or watch your local
media outlets and follow the instructions for your area. Be aware of
your local situation as this develops.

For official notification of watches and warnings, as well as
anticipated flood conditions, the US Weather Service is online at:
https://www.nhc.noaa.gov/#Ida

ARES is being activated where needed. Listen to your ARES and local
emergency sources and act accordingly. Your personal safety is your
immediate responsibility during this period.

As you might have seen from messaging from ARRL, DO NOT SELF DEPLOY. If
you are NOT contacted and asked to deploy, STAY OUT OF THE AFFECTED
AREA, BEFORE, DURING AND AFTER the storm if at all possible to avoid
becoming a victim yourself.

The Hurricane Watch Net will deploy this afternoon. UNLESS YOU ARE
ACTIVELY INVOLVED, DO NOT TRANSMIT on these frequencies:

From hwn.org: "The Hurricane Watch Net on Standby Alert. This normally
means a Hurricane is expected to affect land within the next 48 hours.
We plan to activate late Saturday at 4:00 PM CDT (2100 UTC) on 14.325.00
MHz both 7.268.00 MHz. Propagation on 20-meters has been goofy lately,
so, the band could close early or it may remain open well past sunset.
No matter, we will suspend operations at 10:00 PM CDT (0000 UTC)."

Southern Louisiana, including New Orleans, has been ordered to evacuate.
Traffic on major highways through Alabama and North Florida is already
highly congested. Many will flee to the Atlanta area, as they have in
the past. ARES will assist evacuees in these areas.

It is time to organize your go-kit, charge all your batteries, and
evacuate IF ORDERED or if you believe it necessary to protect yourself
and your family. Be sure to understand potential traffic, fuel and food
situations when doing so, and don't get caught in the open during the
storm. Many evacuees end up stalled without fuel or food. Don't be one!

Post-storm, if you need assistance from ARRL, and you are unable to
reach your ARES leadership, call or email me and I will respond as
quickly as possible. My phone is 561 320-2775.

May God keep all of you and your families safe.

73,

Field Day 2021

06/17/2021

Tonight I will be linking the 146.96 and 145.33 repeaters for the AENV net. The link should come up automatically at 7:20. Tests this morning indicate that it works.

The net will also be linked to 145.27 D-Star, 444.525 DMR, and Brandmeister DMR talk groups 31018 and 310530. The 444.525 repeater will have DMR talk group 31018 on time slot 2, DMR talk group 310530 will be on time slot 1.

We don’t presently have support for direct linking of Yaesu Fusion. You however should be able to use a hotspot and cross connect to DMR talk group 31018.

Feel free to join the net on your favorite repeater and digital mode.

Note: There is a 2 to 4 second delay over the digital links. If someone checks in over the DMR or D-Star links, please allow them 3 to 4 seconds to respond.

I want to express my thanks to the repeater trustees for allowing these links for the net. I also want to thank the hams that have written the free software that makes all of this possible. My hope is that this enhances our communication capability and allows more people to use their handhelds.

Hello radio friends,

You have been missed for a long time. The monthly gathering of Ham enthusiasts is now back on track after weathering a year of physical distancing. Our meeting last June 10 was a roaring success with 24 folks present, all QSOing to their hearts content.

Making the future better would be everyone on the list to find their way back again on July 8th.

Before then, our group plans to participate in 2021 Field Day at the SportsPlex Senior Center on Saturday June 26. Antennas are going up at 10 am, Barbecue lunch at 12:00 and radio contacts 1:00 pm until…

Make your way to our QTH soon.

The Lake Martin Amateur Radio Club is resuming in person meetings.

We will meet at 6:00PM on Thursday, June 10, 2020 at the Senior Center located in the Alexander City Sportsplex.

We will be discussing field day. We look forward to seeing everyone.

06/07/2021

The 146.96 repeater was moved to the Mount Airy tower today. The tower is very close to down town Alexander City.

Please give the repeater a try.

06/05/2021

145.33 and dmr 31018 are now linked/bridged to 145.27 dstar.

I have adjusted the audio levels. When you have a chance please check the levels.

The 146.96 link is ready but needs an antenna.

Very soon we will have the ability to have all repeaters linked for net night. Analog, dmr, and dstar.

Most of you know my dad, Albert (Tom) Homburger. He's asked that I let you all know he had a heart attack Friday and he's been in CCU at UAB since. He had a triple bypass, and has had a few complications, but he is improving gradually. My mom and I have been staying nearby and he is allowed to have one visitor a day, so his spirits are relatively high. I'd like to thank you all for your friendship to my dad, as "ham club" is his favorite past time.

Hi, Folks! This is the last time I'll create a post about my campaign on the club's page in 2019. I'm running for Director of the ARRL representing the ARRL Southeastern Division. This is one of the 15 board members that determines policy for the entire ARRL. Some of you know me - many of you don't. If you are an ARRL member, you will be getting a ballot any day that must be received back by November 15. I believe that we need a change in direction at ARRL that should take a meaningful approach to HOA restrictions, growing membership and spectrum protection. You can find out more at my Facebook group https://www.facebook.com/groups/608407492968822/ or my website http://n4mb.com If you have questions or comments, I will answer them there, or here if the moderators allow, or reach out to me at [email protected].
