PUBLIC STATEMENT

Multi-Department Assist — Alexander Road Railroad Crossing

Late yesterday afternoon, the Alexander Police Chief observed a juvenile stumble across the railroad tracks near the Alexander Road crossing, several hundred yards away, shortly after a train had traveled through the area.

Out of an abundance of caution and concern for the individual’s safety, the Alexander Police and Fire Departments immediately began investigating.

The Police Chief and Fire Chief initiated a search along the railroad tracks while additional personnel checked the surrounding area and went door-to-door attempting to determine the identity and location of the individual.

With extremely high temperatures still present and the possibility that someone could be injured or in distress, a command post was established and additional resources were requested. At the request of the Police Chief, the Fire Chief assumed incident command, with both departments continuing to work closely together throughout the operation.

The Pulaski County Office of Emergency Management responded with drone capabilities to begin an immediate aerial search. The Arkansas State Police provided helicopter support, and a Little Rock Police Department K-9 team was requested to assist with tracking.

Numerous additional agencies responded with personnel, UTVs/side-by-sides, and other resources. As crews arrived, Incident Command assigned teams to search on foot and by UTV in areas that could not be effectively viewed by the drone or helicopter.

After several hours of an extensive coordinated search, responders were unable to locate an injured or missing individual. Additionally, no area hospitals reported receiving anyone matching the circumstances of the incident by personal vehicle.

We want our community to understand that this was treated as a serious public safety matter. Based on what was directly observed, we believed it was necessary to use the resources available to us to make every reasonable effort to ensure the individual seen on the railroad tracks was safe.

More than 40 responders participated in this multi-agency operation. We sincerely thank the following agencies and organizations for responding to assist our city and for the personnel, equipment, and resources they provided:

Incidents such as this demonstrate the importance of cooperation between agencies. When there is a possibility that someone’s life or safety may be at risk, we will always take the situation seriously and work together to provide the resources necessary to protect our community.

Another Multi Department Incident assist to the City of Bryant. Missing Elderly Man for over 12 hours

Thursday afternoon, with the heat close to 100, we were requested to assist Bryant Fire and multiple other agencies with our Rescue Side By Sides.

A crew of 4 responded and arrived to the command post and assigned to group 2 with Alexander Fire, Bryant Police and State Police.

A grid search was underway with 2 groups when Air 4 (Arkansas State Police Helicopter) located the individual in a wetland area.

Captain Schrader in charge of Group 2 notified that they had eyes on him and working with team 1 to get to him.

Crews were in waist deep water during the search and were able to place hands on the missing person.

Over 50 rescue workers were on scene with more responding before the individual was found

Commercial Fire assist to the City of Bryant.
A crew of 4 arrived and went straight to work on the 4th floor. Chief 9 and Asst. Chief 9A hooked up the standpipe connection for use and assisted with fire attack. We had many assignments during the incident that required lots of work.

The heat took its toll on everyone that assisted.

This afternoon, members responded to a medical incident in Stonehills Estate Subdivision. We appreciate all the agencies who assisted on this incident.

FIREWORKS = HOUSE FIRE.

This evening, we were dispatched to a house fire with smoke coming in the house.

Chief 9 arrived and found a small exterior fire that was melting the siding of the home.

Arriving crews began pulling the siding and found a small area burning and extinguished. 🧯

Thanks to Bryant, Alexander, Salem Crystal and Pafford for their quick response as the damage was minimal.

The picture shows where a bottle rocket from over 24 hours ago was lodged in the exterior/insulation part of the home.

Total of 8 members responded!

Late this afternoon, Rescue 9 responded to Salem Fire district for a Working House Fire from a lightning strike.

Crews arrived to smoke and fire and began fire attack. Rescue 9 arrived and assisted with fire attack and overhaul.

Over the next 17 weeks, one of our members, Kasen Wright, has dedicated himself to rigorous training in preparation for a lifelong commitment to the fire service. Today, Kasen beganEMT training, which will be followed by Firefighter Standards training. We are pleased and proud of his commitment to serving our community and anticipate witnessing his future success. Kasen is carrying forward his father's legacy, who tragically passed away due to a job-related illness as a firefighter with Little Rock Fire Department.
