Safe Families at Life Connections

Safe Families at Life Connections The trauma of child abuse can be devastating and have lasting consequences for a child. It is from this philosophy Safe Families for Children (SFFC) was born.

Safe Families partners with entire communities to mobilize a movement of people organized into teams (Circles of Support) dedicated to keeping parents supported, children safe, and families together. Many instances of abuse and neglect can be prevented if families in crisis had a support network of caring individuals to help them in a time of need. In 2003, SFFC founder, Dave Anderson, found that

if loving families can provide a safe and caring environment for a child at critical times, we can not only prevent harm to children, but we can enhance a parent's ability to provide what that child needs. Safe Families for Children (SFFC) is a national movement of compassion that gives hope to families in crisis. Our dedication to family support, stabilization, and child abuse prevention is driven by responsibility for the well-being of children in our communities. SFFC partners with churches, local community agencies, volunteer families as well as government organizations across the country to build a volunteer network. The SFFC network provides essential extended family-like relationships to nearly 1,000 children and families annually. Learn more at www.safe-families.org

God is stirring His people to care for vulnerable children and isolated families. And YOU are part of this great mission! Together we long to see the Body of Christ working together so family is alone and living without the support they need for their children to thrive!🌱

Closing out the week with a special shoutout to our friends at Salvation Army of Alexandria for helping us support families in a practical (and delicious)way earlier this summer!

Salvation Army donated popsicles and water for a Safe Families event and provided diapers that were distributed through Life Connections to local families in need.

We’re so thankful for generous partners whose hearts are to serve the Lord, love their communities, and help others do the same❤️🙌

“We initially embarked on this journey with Safe Families to serve God and build empathy towards others. What God rewarded us with is the blessing of knowing Lily and her family. She has blessed our family in ways we never could have imagined."

"As is so often seen, serving the Lord is rewarded in ways that are so unexpected and so above any expectations. We are eternally grateful to Safe Families for this ministry and such a tremendous opportunity." The Cassidy Host Family

Safe Families Core Values define who we are as an organization and how we treat each other, the families we support, volunteers, and partners. When we put them into action they create our culture.

Radical Hospitality means welcome strangers into our homes and our lives to find hope, rest, and healing. We work to create space, maintain a welcoming stance and invite others to use their skills to serve others and grow the movement.

❤️Taking a moment to share our gratitude for the kindness of our local community.

Thank you to our friends at Alexandria Covenant Church for blessing us with freezer meals prepared during Serving Saturday earlier this month. These meals will be shared with families in need, offering not only practical support, but also a reminder that they are cared for and not alone.

In faith, we offer these meals and pray for the needs of a family walking through a challenging circumstance- trusting that the Lord will provide for their needs. We’re also praying that as these meals go out, they would bring families around the table together and foster connection and loving relationships within the home.

We are so grateful for a community that continues to show up with generosity, compassion, and love. Thank you for being part of the mission of Safe Families!

Social isolation shouldn't mean separation!

Parents want the best for their children, but sometimes they lack the financial resources and physical support of a reliable community to help in a crisis, leaving children vulnerable and families isolated.

Safe Families for Children is a family-focused support movement committed to serving parents by providing a caring, compassionate community to walk alongside them when they need it most.

Every family needs a family to count on! For more information, visit our website at https://safe-families.org/ to get involved in helping keep children safe and families together!

As school bells ring in a new season, many families are stepping into a year filled with both excitement and uncertainty. While some children return with confidence and anticipation, others carry burdens that aren't visible in a backpack.

This month, we want to pause and honor the heart of our schools—our teachers, counselors, administrators, and support staff. Every day, they pour into the lives of children with compassion, patience, wisdom, and encouragement. They faithfully invest in each student entrusted to their care, showing up day after day with consistency, intentionality, and a heart to help every child thrive.

They celebrate the little victories and the big milestones, notice silent struggles, create opportunities for positive childhood experiences (PCEs), and often become a steady source of hope and stability when it’s needed most. Their influence extends far beyond academics, helping shape character, build confidence, and reminding children that they are seen, valued, and deeply loved. We are incredibly grateful for their dedication and the lasting impact they make in the lives of students and families each day.

As this new school year begins, would you join us in praying for every student, every family, and every educator? May they be strengthened for the work ahead, encouraged in moments of challenge, and reminded that they are not alone. Together, we are blessing our schools, strengthening families, and helping hope walk into every classroom—one relationship at a time.

School is starting up this month around the country, and it is important that parents feel supported so children can thrive!

In partnership with local schools, Safe Families for Children (SFFC) focuses on building a support network with a local community church that has vetted, trained volunteers willing to serve families. This partnership intends to surround families with support from their community, which will help to:

1) Stabilize, strengthen + support parents
2) Minimize or eliminate harmful disruptions for a child at school
3) Enhance a child’s learning, development + growth
4) Reduce family stressors + isolation

It is a privilege to partner with thousands of churches nationwide that share our passion for living out the gospel to love our neighbor.

The role of Safe Families for Children (SFFC) is to come alongside local churches as they live out the mission Christ has already entrusted to them.
We are not asking churches to advance our mission—we are asking how we can help you live out yours.
