October 22 is National Nut Day. This month’s WIC-approved food is Nut Butter! 🥜 Nut butters are filled with nutritious fats and are high in protein, making them a great and tasty staple for snacks and meals!

Try creating a fun snack with your choice of nut butter. Make a plate of your family’s favorite fruits alongside a scoop of nut butter as a dip, or add a drizzle of nut butter to yogurt or smoothies for some extra flavor! 🍎🥣

Help make recovery possible for more people as part of Recovery Corps! Horizon Public Health is looking for a great candidate to serve as Recovery Project Coordinator and help maximize our impact in the community.

Recovery Project Coordinators support project management, data collection and analysis, and education outreach. With great training and coaching, anyone can make a great Recovery Project Coordinator. Individuals who have lived experience with recovery are encouraged to apply.

This is an AmeriCorps member position with Recovery Corps. By giving your time as a Recovery Project Coordinator, you'll make an incredible impact in your community while gaining professional experience in the recovery field.

Parents, take time to talk with your teen about the responsibilities that come with driving. Set clear expectations about wearing seat belts, avoiding distractions, limiting passengers, and following the rules of the road. And remember, driving is a privilege—it's okay to take away the keys when safety expectations aren't being met.

Most importantly, lead by example! Put your phone away, buckle up every trip, and practice the safe driving habits you want your teen to follow. They may not always admit it, but they're watching and learning from you.

⚠️ Measles Cases Are Rising in Minnesota!

Since mid-September, 25 measles cases have been confirmed in two separate outbreaks:
📍 6 cases in Fillmore County
📍 19 cases in Todd County

All 25 people were unvaccinated. Minnesota has now reported 42 measles cases in 2026, and more cases are expected.

Measles is extremely contagious and can spread through the air when someone coughs, talks, or simply shares a room. The virus can remain in the air for up to 2 hours after an infected person leaves.

✅ Vaccination is the best protection!

1 MMR dose = 93% protection
2 MMR doses = 97% protection

Getting vaccinated also helps protect babies and people with weakened immune systems who cannot receive the vaccine.

✅ Measles can spread in any community. Make sure you and your family are protected!
