Today my Mom and I attended the funeral for Master Technician Paul Bennett (Grand Monty), Fairfax County Fire Department (retired).

I had known Paul since Wes first started fire buffing when we were both teenagers. There are people you meet in your life that leave a lasting impression. He was one of those people. That resonated through every memory spoken about him today. My fondest memories of him are from his time at 408 where he worked with Mark Pullman, Curt Alvis, and Tom Williams. He was a good friend to Wes too. Even when Wes wasn't feeling his best he would go visit Paul.

It is obvious that he will be missed by family and friends. May he RIP. 💙🚒

E413 arrived on scene with a working fire in an apartment on the 2nd floor. They located a fire in a dryer fire in the A quadrant with no extension. The fire was quickly knocked. No reported injuries were reported.

Pedestrian Accident: E405 (released by E205), M405, EMS201

T208 was originally dispatched for a smell of chemicals. They found smoke in the attic of the unit next door. BC202 arrived on scene and reported smoke showing from the 2nd floor windows of 264 Gretna Green Ct. Fire was found in the A quadrant of the 2nd floor.

En-route E205 requested an additional medic for a pedestrian that was struck at Picket Street and Valley Forge Rd. The pedestrian was struck by a vehicle that was attempting to get out of the way of E205. They were transported by M405.

Caller advised that there was smoke coming from the roof and smoke was filling the store. E208 arrived on scene with nothing showing. Once inside they found a haze in the store. They located an electrical issue in a unit on top of a refrigerator unit on the D side of the store.

E424 arrived on scene with a large volume of fire showing from the garage. The fire was making impingement into the house and fire had broken through the door from the garage to the house. BC405 initially called for a defensive operation. The bulk of the fire was knocked quickly. No civilian injuries reported.

E440 could see a column on the horizon prior to arrival. E440 arrived with heavy fire showing on side B with fire punching through the roof. Fire seemed to have started on the first floor and extended up to attic. There was fire throughout the attic. 4 occupants were displaced and Red Cross assistance was requested. 1 occupant was transported for smoke inhalation.

E418 arrived on scene with smoke showing from side A of a cape cod style home. A small fire was located in the C quandrant of the basement. There was some slight extension to the wall and ceiling. A dog was rescued from the basement.

E428 arrived with fire through the roof showing on sides A & B of a single family home. Fire was though the roof on Side A running the ridge line up the B side. 10 minutes into the incident there was a partial roof collapse on Side A. 2 adults were displaced. One was transported with smoke inhalation. Command was terminated at 0947.
