Alexandria Medical Reserve Corps In the wake of the September 11, 2001 attacks, thousands of Americans volunteered their skills and talents to assist the community.

The Alexandria Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) is a unit of local medical and non-medical volunteers who are ready to respond to public health emergencies and support public health emergency preparedness across Alexandria. Many more asked, “What can I do to help?” The Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) was established in 2002 as a national network of volunteers, organized locally to improve the health and sa

fety of their communities. The MRC network is made up of 987 community-based units and almost 200,000 volunteers located throughout the United States and its territories.

Two MRC volunteers from Alexandria were deployed to the medical aid stations for our Nation’s Independence Day parade on Friday and helped treat many cases of heat-related illness. Thank you for keeping our community safe and healthy! ⭐️

Big thanks to the volunteers who responded this week for both the planned and unplanned.

Thanks to you, all of this was possible:
📈MRC volunteers processed over 200 paper Community Health Assessment (CHA) surveys, entering the data into an online database for detailed analysis.
👋🏼MRC volunteers supported the CHA kickoff event as activity facilitators and support personnel to ensure a smooth experience for all attendees.
📢MRC recruited new volunteers, gathered responses for the CHA survey, AND spread the word about the FREE flu vaccination event at Minnie Howard on October 26!
❤️MRC deployed to the lead-testing response to support our community.
