Last night, we had the absolute joy of celebrating our Executive Director, Terri Cheshire, at the Chamber of Alexandria’s 40 Over 40 Awards! 💙

We could not be more proud of Terri and all that she brings to The Center for Alexandria’s Children. She is an incredible leader, an advocate for children and families, and truly one of the most deserving people of this recognition.

There’s no better way to celebrate someone who gives so much to our community than with a room full of people cheering her on. We had the best time celebrating YOU, Terri! Congratulations! 🥂✨

A forensic interview is a conversation designed to help children share what they have experienced in a safe, supportive environment. Conducted by specially trained professionals using developmentally appropriate techniques, the interview intends to minimize additional trauma while gathering information that may help with an investigation. The child's comfort, safety, and well-being always come first. The more people understand the signs and the process, the better we can protect children together. Call 703-746-5800 to reach the Child Abuse Hotline if you are concerned about a child's safety or well-being.

When families arrive at the Center, one of the first people they meet is our Family Advocate.

From answering questions to connecting caregivers with counseling, victim services, and community resources, they are here to offer support and reassurance every step of the way. Families are typically referred to the Center after a report has been made. Our Family Advocate is here to provide guidance, answer questions, and connect caregivers with resources throughout the process. Together, we help children and families move forward with support, compassion, and hope.

Some of the most important learning happens long before kindergarten.

Our Learn&PlayGroup™ Program helps children ages 0–5 build social, emotional and language skills while giving parents and caregivers practical activities to continue at home.

Because when children thrive...families thrive.
