• Are incomprehensible or do not contribute to reasonable dialogue
• Are disruptive, including personal conversations better suited for private messaging
• Violate any of Facebook's Terms of Use and Code of Conduct

Constant or extreme violations of Volunteers of America’s Facebook community rules will cause a commenter to be "defriended," blocking them from making future posts or comments on the page. In Eckert, Colorado, residents of the Volunteers of America National Services-operated Horizons Health Care and Retirement Community came together to give back to the community. A heat wave is an extended period of high temperatures, often accompanied by high humidity. A lack of proper health care measures during a heat wave can cause a person's body temperature to rise rapidly, leading to heatstroke. Currently, Puerto Rico is experiencing record-high temperatures, putting those without air-conditioned shelter at risk. VOA Puerto Rico provides robust community and public health services to those at risk of heat sickness on the island.

🐶Today is National Dog Day, and we are celebrating the VOA programs that uplift and support our furry friends and their owners. At Volunteers of America - Greater New York, the Survivors and Pets Opportunity to Thrive (SPOT) program expands resources for domestic violence survivors and their pets when they seek shelter.

71% of pet owners entering domestic violence shelters report abusers threatening or abusing family pets, and 41% of pet owners postpone or avoid leaving an abuser out of fear for what will happen to their pets. Through the SPOT program, VOA expands domestic violence shelter resources for pets, ensuring the safety of both animals and their owners. These resources include outdoor dog play areas, no-cost veterinary services, pet food, and animal cleaning supplies. 🐕

On National Senior Citizens Day, VOA highlights the stories of the 300,000 older adults we serve every year.

Meet Pamela, a resident at VOA Michigan's Delta River Senior Village, who escaped 25 years of domestic violence at the age of 68. She discovered VOA Michigan’s senior community, which became a safe space to heal from her trauma and develop strong bonds. Now, a few years later, Pamela is finally able to breathe a sigh of relief. The new life she has built is full of love, laughter, and following her dreams. Even more telling, Pamela’s sister was inspired to follow in her big sister’s footsteps and escape a similarly abusive situation and begin again. For older adults like Pamela, VOA’s senior services have provided a place to land and heal.
