The Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Council advises the Alexandria City Mayor and Council on issues affecting award winning paramedic service. The City Council appoints members to a two-year term with the Assistant Fire Chief, EMS Medical Director and Deputy City Manager as ex-officio positions.

Inova names new Alexandria hospital leader - Washington Business Journal

Congratulations to Dr. Rina Bansal on her selection as President of Inova Alexandria Hospital. Dr Bansal has worked within the Inova system since 2008, starting as a doctor at Inova Fairfax Hospital. In 2010, she created the CNS Hospitalist program within Inova’s neurosciences department to better coordinate care for patients. In 2014, Bansal began serving as interim chief medical officer, then associate chief medical officer, at Inova Fairfax, also doubling as medical director of the Inova Telemedicine Program. At the same time, medical calls have tripled since 1985. FF/Paramedic Fitzgerald - With 24 years of service in the Alexandria Fire Department FF/Paraemedic Fitzgerald was one of the first group of paramedics to participate in the firefighter/paramedic program where paramedics are crossed trained to become firefighters and vise-versa. He continues to be a role model for young firefighters and paramedics.
