The Commonwealth team administering the Rebuild VA economic recovery fund established by Governor Ralph Northam this summer made the decision to expand eligibility criteria. Now, businesses that received funding from the federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act and supply chain partners of businesses whose normal operations were impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic are now eligible to receive grants of up to $10,000. https://www.governor.virginia.gov/rebuildva/
Notably, Rebuild VA funding may be utilized for the following eligible expenses:
* Payroll support, including paid sick, medical, or family leave, and costs related to the continuation of group health care benefits during those periods of leave;
* Employee salaries;
* Mortgage payments, rent, and utilities;
* Principal and interest payments for any business loans from national or state-chartered banking, savings and loan institutions, or credit unions, that were incurred before or during the emergency;
* Eligible personal protective equipment, cleaning and disinfecting materials, or other working capital needed to address COVID-19 response.
This is separate from the Alexandria Back to Business grants, and we know you might have questions. Please reach out to AEDP and we can help you understand both programs and provide other assistance.
Governor Ralph Northam, 73rd Governor of Virginia
Our community's vision for the redevelopment of #PotomacYard, established through decades of planning, is ambitious and predicted to take multiple decades. The "real estate deal" that cemented Virginia Tech as the anchor for this new #InnovationDistrict is the definition of a game changer- more impactful than we aspired for, and creating demand and energy many years early than we hoped! Thanks to the Washington Business Journal for recognizing this project in their annual #bestinrealestate awards.
In 2019, Potomac Yard provided Virginia Tech exactly what it needed: the space to grow and to be part of a mixed-use ecosystem of offices, residential and retail. The deal took home the Game Changer Award at our Best Real Estate Deals of 2019.

The Northern Virginia Economic Development Alliance (NOVA EDA) continues their three-part, 12 session webinar series: "Beyond COVID-19: NOVA Business Resiliency Webinars."
This week's session will focus on "Partnering Across the Business Community." Partnerships between businesses, non-profits and governments have a long tradition. Partnerships provide valuable access to products, services, markets, new technologies and knowledge that the partnering firm does not already possess. But how do you know with whom to partner? What is the foundation of a good partnership versus one that will end poorly and before its time? How about public/private partnerships? What are they and should you be involved in one?
Learn how to partner well for mutual benefit with other companies and through public/private/non-profit partnerships. Topics include:
• Defining and structuring a good partnership
• The types of partnerships that exist and how they differ
• Public/Private Partnerships, what are they and how to engage
• How to create and nurture a partnership for the long-term
Free for all - more info and registration can be found here: http://novaeda.org/events/
