When a loved one goes missing, for the family, minutes can seem like days. They call 911 looking for someone to respond who has the training and knowledge to help find them quickly and efficiently. You can be that person.

Campbell County LandSAR is looking for dedicated volunteers to join our team. As a volunteer division of the Campbell County Office of Emergency Management we serve Campbell County, Northern Kentucky, and respond to callouts state-wide. When our community faces its toughest moments, we are the ones who answer the call to bring missing people home safely.

We are looking for dedicated individuals willing to commit to regular training and respond to emergency deployments. People who can maintain a reliable, positive attitude in critical situations.

By joining our team, you will learn lifesaving and specialized rescue skills, advanced search tracking and tactics, and wilderness survival and navigation.

No prior experience is necessary. We provide all the specialized training you need to become a skilled search professional at no cost.

Campbell County’s Fall Cleanup is Oct. 9 and 10, giving residents an opportunity to clear out unwanted items and dispose of them at three convenient locations across the county.

From 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days, residents can drop off furniture, mattresses, yard debris, trash and electronics. The Campbell County Road Department location will also accept appliances, scrap metal, lead-acid batteries, propane tanks and up to eight tires.

This week, we recognize the people working year-round to help keep Campbell County prepared.

Aug. 2-8 is Emergency Management Agency Appreciation Week, recognizing the professionals and volunteers who help communities prepare for, respond to, recover from and mitigate the impacts of disasters.

Much of their work happens before an emergency occurs. Throughout the year, emergency management professionals coordinate disaster planning, conduct emergency exercises, provide public education, maintain emergency communications systems, support training for first responders, coordinate emergency sheltering and develop hazard mitigation strategies.

“Emergency management is truly a team effort,” said William R. Turner, director of the Campbell County Office of Emergency Management. “Our success depends on the outstanding partnerships we have with our fire departments, law enforcement agencies, EMS, dispatchers, public works, school systems, healthcare providers, volunteer organizations, local government officials, and our state and federal partners.”

The Campbell County Fiscal Court extends its appreciation to the emergency management professionals, first responders, public safety personnel, volunteers and partner agencies whose commitment and service help protect Campbell County every day.

A cooling center is a safe, air-conditioned public place where residents can go to cool off during extreme heat.

Cooling centers are especially important for older adults, people with chronic medical conditions, families without enough air conditioning, and others who may be at higher risk for heat-related illness.
