Councilman John T. Chapman, City Council Member and founder of , joined the Alexandria Diversity in Business Expo to share insights on leadership, legacy, and local business growth.

Through his work with Manumission Tour Company, he curates guided tours that honor Alexandria’s rich African American history, ensuring that the stories of resilience, entrepreneurship, and community are remembered and retold.

His message reminded us that building for the future begins with understanding the past and that local leadership plays a powerful role in shaping spaces where both history and opportunity can thrive.
