Join us for the StepALIVE! Walkathon on Oct 20th
It's time to lace up your walking shoes and take a step towards alleviating food insecurity in the City of Alexandria. Thank you to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church-Alexandria, VA for organizing a team to participate in the StepALIVE! walkathon on Sunday, October 20th.
This walk will kick off at 2pm from the parking lot of First Christian Church (2723 King Street) and the money we raised will support ALIVE!'s work to connect Alexandrians in need with food, respond to financial emergencies, and meet other basic needs such as housing and furniture.

Volunteers who drive ALIVE!'s trucks transporting food and furniture are critical to our efforts to support Alexandrians in need. That's why it's so important to stay safe on the road and while loading and unloading materials. We are grateful to our friends at Revolve Cares for creating this Truck Safety video for everyone who operates an ALIVE! vehicle!

Volunteers who sign up to drive the ALIVE! truck must be at least 21 years old, must have a valid Driver’s License, and provide proof insurance. A Commercial Driver’s License is not required. Cooking with Items from the ALIVE! Food Hub

Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive Alexandria City Council Proclamation
Thank you to Mayor Justin Wilson and the Alexandria City Council for highlighting the Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive on May 11th!
Every year, ALIVE!'s partners with the Alexandra branch of the National Association of Letter Carriers for this door to door food drive where supporters are able to leave donations of non-perishable food by the mailbox for letter carriers to collect as they deliver mail.

Help Our Alexandria Neighbors in Need
Nancy Lopez leads ALIVE!'s Furniture Program and every Saturday she organizes groups of volunteers to deliver gently used furniture to our neighbors in need.
In the last year, the ALIVE! furniture program delivered nearly 800 pieces of furniture items to almost 200 Alexandria families! We deliver dining room tables and chairs, sofas, beds, and dressers that transform empty apartments into comfortable homes. And all of that happens because of the generous support of our community.

Did you know that ALIVE! serves roughly 20,000 people each month in the City of Alexandria who need essential grocery items? In addition to providing food to 14 local food pantries, ALIVE! distributes food at outdoor events, and at two brick and mortar Food Hubs. Anyone in need can pick up fresh bread, eggs, meat, produce, and shelf stable items.
ALIVE! is more than just Alexandria's food bank. ALIVE! provides food, shelter, financial assistance, housewares & furniture, and eviction prevention support to Alexandrians in need.
