COVID-19 has rocked communities all around the world. Alexandria is no exception. Washington Street United Methodist Church, in partnership with ACT for Alexandria, will be hosting a panel discussion to discuss the impacts of COVID-19 in the Alexandria community, and will look at how you, as a community member, can support the responsive effort. Panelists include Kate Garvey (Department of Community & Human Services, City of Alexandria, VA), Jennifer Ayers (ALIVE), and Rev. Kameron Wilds (Rising Hope Mission Church)

Hear from people in the community adversely impacted by COVID and from community leaders who are working to provide support in the COVID-19 response.

Today, federal employees dropped off their food donations and the Alexandria Sheriff's Office, City of Alexandria, Virginia delivered the collected donations to ALIVE!

Today, WEBA-West End Business Association Board President, Anna Davalos, Vice President Mary Ann Burstein, and Board members Ralph Critten, Paul Friedman, and Jennifer Ayers came out to the ALIVE! food warehouse and treated ALIVE! staff & key volunteers, the Alexandria Sheriff's Office, City of Alexandria, Virginia, and Workforce Development Center, City of Alexandria, VA to gift cards from Wiygul Automotive Clinic and lunch from Ande Charles Slider Bistro food truck, known for the “Best Gourmet Sliders” in the DMV. Staff and volunteers enjoyed individually packaged cheeseburgers, fried chicken, fried cod, and plant-based burgers with a side of tots. This generous gesture from WEBA is to recognize and thank local organizations dedicated to serving the Alexandria community during the COVID-19 emergency response.

ALIVE! Food Collection Resumes!

ALIVE! has resumed its Food Program’s tradition of collecting food donations from the community. Back from being suspended during pandemic, the Food Program has re-opened its doors to those looking to drop-off purchased or collected food.

ALIVE! is available to receive food donations at the Food warehouse located at 801 S. Payne Street on Thursdays 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM and Saturdays 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM, or by appointment. To make an appointment, call (703) 837-9300 or email [email protected]

Donations must be from the current list of Accepted Food Donations. The needs are always changing so check the ALIVE! website for the most updated list available at www.alive-inc.org

Please note, ALIVE! cannot accept expired food or food packaged in glass containers. Donation receipts available upon request.

Thank you Trinity UMC - Alexandria youth group and Volunteer Alexandria Breaks with Impact (BWI) youth group who have been restoring the preschool playground and garden boxes at the ALIVE! main office. They’ve been busy weeding, pruning, and cleaning but still needs much more.

If you have a group or just love being outdoors, please join us in this ALIVE! grounds beautification project by taking one or two days throughout the year to continue its upkeep. Visit www.alive-inc.org for all our volunteer opportunities.
