Council meetings are open to the public, and residents are welcome to attend.

🚧 CHURCH STREET PAVING UPDATE 🚧

Today is the day (we're pretty sure) for the chip seal overlay -- this gives the road surface more protection so it will stay in good shape a little longer.

And then we can call THIS project finished! 😃 On to the next ...

🚨🚨 BREAKING NEWS FROM THE VILLAGE OF ALEXANDRIA 🚨🚨

THE CHURCH STREET ASPHALT HAS ARRIVED!!!

After much anticipation, rain for weeks, equipment delays, and a healthy dose of skepticism, the paving contractor has loaded down the asphalt on Church Street today!

And tomorrow, the chip seal top is scheduled to go on. 🎉

We don't want to get too far ahead of ourselves. We've learned our lesson. 😂

But this time… IT LOOKS LIKE WE MIGHT ACTUALLY BE DONE

Thank you, Alexandria, for hanging with us.

We are cautiously optimistic.
We are excited.
We are keeping our fingers crossed. 🤞

~ Alexandria Through the Years: Then and Now ~

Long before the TJ Evans Trail replaced the rails, trains ran through our community! Alexandria's train depot, dating to around 1895, originally stood along the railroad tracks (now the bike trail) on Depot Street.

The Toledo & Ohio Central Railroad's Eastern Branch ran from Toledo through Alexandria -- if you've ever wondered about the "Thur" on the station sign, it isn't short for Thursday, it refers to the community of Thurston, in Fairfield County, where the Eastern Branch terminated.

Moved from its original location, today the little green station sits near Main and Liberty Streets, behind Black Star.

A little piece of Alexandria's railroad history is still right here in town.

🚧 CHURCH STREET PAVING UPDATE: Thursday. Apparently. 🤦‍♀️

We have an update on the paving. The contractor had an equipment failure on their job this morning, so Church Street paving has been pushed to THURSDAY.

We understand that equipment breaks. That's life. But after several schedule changes, we're also starting to feel like we're living in a paving version of Groundhog Day.

And naturally… 🌧️ Thursday's forecast currently includes rain.

We're continuing to push the contractor to get this work completed, but we'll be honest with you: We'll be just as surprised as you are if it actually happens Thursday. 😂

💧 Paying Your Water Bill Online? Here’s What’s New!

Our new Village website has a slightly different look for online water bill payments—but don’t worry, the payment portal you’re familiar with is still there!

To pay your water bill online:

1️⃣ Go to any page on the new Village website and click the “Pay Water Bill” quick link.

2️⃣ You’ll be taken to the Utility Payment Options page.

3️⃣ Under the Online payment option, click the secure payment link shown in the red box in the image below.

➡️ That link will take you to the familiar secure payment portal, where you can pay using a credit card, debit card, or e-check.

The payment process hasn’t changed—just the first step to get there. 😊

Two Village Boards meet this week and residents are always welcome to attend.

The Alexandria Planning & Zoning Commission meets Wednesday, August 26, at 5:30 p.m. at the Village Office, 4 W. Main Street. The Park Board will meet Thursday, August 27, at 6:00 p.m. at the Village Office.

All meetings are open to the public. Residents are welcome to attend to learn more about planning and zoning, Parker Community Park, and other topics that help shape our community.

🚧 CHURCH STREET PAVING UPDATE: The Saga Continues 🚧

At this point, we’re starting to think our paving contractor is just trying to keep things exciting. We were told paving would happen Monday, with chip seal later in the week.

Update: Paving is now scheduled for TUESDAY.

Yes, this is the fourth date change.
No, we did not accidentally put the wrong day on the calendar.
Yes, we are also tired of changing it.

Here’s a quick look at what’s going on in Alexandria:

🚧 Church Street paving is now scheduled for Monday, August 24. Please allow a little extra time and watch for changing traffic patterns while the work is underway. Chip sealing is expected later in the week. We’ll share additional information as it becomes available.

🚘 Roadway conditions: If you’re traveling around the area this weekend, keep an eye on roadway conditions, especially after heavy rain. While there are no flooded roads in the Village, there are several around the area that can flood. You can check current roadway conditions across the state through OHGO.com, the Ohio Department of Transportation’s traffic information system. And remember: never drive through standing or moving water.

😃 Finally, don't forget that Garage Sale Weekend is September 5–7. Start cleaning out that garage!
