Our friends at Alexandria Bike Buses are once again offering training to Douglas MacArthur families who want to learn how to start up a bike bus for the 2026-27 school year.

Over two months, you'll learn how to confidently and competently start a bike bus through a flexible, hybrid schedule of five optional safety presentations, discussions, and hands-on demonstrations.

We are less than THREE weeks from the start of the 2026-27 school year! Is your student ready?

If you didn't order your supplies through our Educational Products, Inc. fundraiser earlier this summer, there's still time to get everything you need for back to school.

Alexandria City Public Schools recently announced that they are using TeacherLists, which allows families to access and print supply lists, compare prices, and purchase online (if you choose). Visit https://app.teacherlists.com/schools/66303-douglas-macarthur-elementary-school to find lists by grade.

And don't forget, this weekend is a 3-day sales tax holiday in Virginia. From August 7th to 9th, you can purchase qualified school supplies ($20 or less per item) and clothing/footwear ($100) tax free. Additional information is available from Virginia Department of Taxation.

Is your child turning five by September 30, 2026? Make sure to register them for Kindergarten so they can be one of MacArthur's newest stars this fall!

Join Alexandria City Public Schools on Monday, July 27, 2 to 6 pm for a special Kindergarten Registration Event where families can:
- Get one-on-one help completing the online registration form
- Schedule required health appointments
- Notarize documents (if needed)
- Receive support in your preferred language
