Just an FYI our trails, sledding hills, and skating rinks are closed for the season. If we get a blast of snow in March check in with us, as I am sure we will get out and groom everything up to enjoy. Until then put on some hiking boots and get outside!

Trail Report February 11, 2026

Hey Folks, we have some warm temps in the forecast. It is great for going for a walk/run but not great for snow and our snow sports. As of today Wed. (2/11) the ski trails are in good shape. I would expect them to degrade rapidly with the temps over the weekend and into next week. Mornings will be icy and afternoons the snow will be mash potatoes. Try and find the sweet spot each morning and evening each day!

Kensington Rune Stone Park
Cross-country ski trails – marginal conditions exist. North side accessed from the ball field parking lot is you best best. In the trees there is plenty of snow.
Sledding hill – Marginal conditions exist
Fat tire – Fat tire trails are in good shape. The may get soft midday. Best bet for a firm surface will be the morning hours
Snowshoeing – Good conditions exist.

Brophy Park
Sledding hill Marginal conditions exit. Getting down to ice.
Walking trails Good conditions exist.
Cross-County Ski trails –closed
Ice trail/rink – Good conditions exist on Wednesday 2/11. As we get towards the weekend I would expect the warming temps to start to erode the ice and make it unskatable.

Spruce Hill
Cross-country ski trails- Marginal Conditions exist. There is good snow cover in the park. As the weekend progresses I would expect it to get slushy.
Snowshoeing- Good conditions exist.

Chippewa Park
Cross-country ski trails – closed.

Trail Report February 6, 2026

Hey Folks, we have some nice weather ahead of us! We have regroomed a lot of skiing, fat tire, and hiking trails. The ice rink at Brophy is in great shape as well! I would expect with the warm temps next week and our thin snowpack we may see some bare spots show up in the middle of next week. So, get out while we have good conditions and enjoy it.

Kensington Rune Stone Park
Cross-country ski trails – Good Conditions exist. North side is slotted. South side is skate ski.
Sledding hill – Marginal conditions exist
Fat tire – Fat tire trails are in good shape. The Rune Stone Off Road Cyclists groomed them this week.
Snowshoeing – Good conditions exist.

Brophy Park
Sledding hill Marginal conditions exit.
Walking trails Good conditions exist.
Cross-County Ski trails –not a good option. Thin snow cover and blowing and drifting have left areas bare.
Ice trail/rink – Great conditions exist. The outdoor rink is a great option for the weekend.

Spruce Hill
Cross-country ski trails- Good Conditions exist.
Snowshoeing- Good conditions exist.

Chippewa Park
Cross-country ski trails – Good conditions exist the new bridge is very beautiful and a fun thing to ski over. The trail has room for both skate skiing and traditional.

Just a heads up for this weekend1/16/26 if you decided to get outside and get some movement in.

We groomed Kensington Rune Stone Park today. In the trees the conditions will be good. The snow depth wasn't enough to set slots but it is groomed and ready for you to ski. For hiking or snowshoeing the woods at Rune Stone Park will be best. The fat tire Mnt Bike trails are hard packed and good to walk on. The sledding hills at Brophy and Kensington have thin snow cover but enough to slide on. Finally the ice rink has a fair amount of drifting snow on it.

We plan to be out on Tuesday regrooming all the parks after this wind. Hopefully it will blow in some more snow for us all.

Today 12/30/25 we groomed Kensington Rune Stone Park and Chippewa Park. Both turned out great we had just enough snow to groom not enough to lay down slots. Both would be good bets to ski this weekend.

Tomorrow 12/31/25 we plan to groom Spruce Hill county park and Lake Brophy County Park. The Conditions at Spruce Hill will be good as there is plenty of tree cover to hold the snow. However I don't expect good ski conditions at Brophy Park as the big winds blew the hill tops clean. Ice Skating, hiking, and sledding are all good options at Brophy I just wouldn't go there to ski this week.

On Friday 1/2/26 we plan to groom out at Lake Carlos State Park. That should be a good option for the weekend as well.

The Fat tire trails at Kensington Rune Stone Park are in good shape and freshly groomed this morning 12/30/25.

Get out and enjoy the outdoors

Happy New Year!

Just a heads up for any of you looking to XC Ski. We will be able to Groom Rune Stone Park first thing in the morning. Looks like the trees held enough snow for it to provide some pretty good conditions.

12/19/2025

Well what a change a week makes......

We don't have much to report this week as most of are snow is now hard ice.

If you are looking to XC Ski Rune Stone Park on the north side of the road in the trees is your best bet. Spruce hill and Chippewa are marginal and mostly ice. Brophy is out as most of the hills are bare at this time.

Sledding hills are icy so use caution. Hopefully we pick up some snow later today.

The two bright spots out of all this crazy weather is that 1. the ice rink at Brophy Park is in fantastic shape and ready for you to skate on. 2. the fat tire trail at rune stone is packed down and in very nice shape.

Hopefully we will pick up some fresh snow and we can get everything regroomed. Until then hiking, biking or skating is your best bet out in our parks this weekend.
