Congratulations to our two newest Honor Guardsmen! LTJG Wheeler and SK1 Wright joined us this summer and recently completed their qualification process. Both have proven to be great leaders and will assuredly maintain the highest standards expected of Honor Guardsmen!
Honor Guardsmen may not be in the fleet directly saving lives, but they always look for opportunities to help others!
Thank you to all those who participated in today’s blood drive, and thank you Armed Services Blood Program (ASBP) & ASBP National Capital Region for everything you do!
Ever wonder what it’s like to stand in the middle of our Drill Team’s Center-4 performance?
Well thanks to a talented Honor Guard alumni and some fancy camera work, you can!
This video was shot outside of the CG Headquarters Ceremonial Entrance while the Drill Team was getting prepped to go back on the road to perform.

U.S. Coast Guard
Monday Morale!
The team has clocked over 5,500 miles on the road this month, making two trips to Michigan and three to New England in support of various events, so some rest and relaxation is just what everyone needed!
Last night the Honor Guard presented Colors and conducted a drill performance for the nearly 1,000 guests in attendance for the 2022 Coast Guard Ball. Thank you to all those involved in the planning process to get all our shipmates under one roof again!
A few weeks ago our team team traveled to Michigan for the Grand Haven Coast Guard Festival. The Drill Team had a full week of performances all over town, culminating in a final performance just before the town’s incredible firework display. We also had the oppurtunity to participate in the annual memorial ceremony for the USCGC ESCANABA (WPG-77) and her crew.
Thank you to U.S. Coast Guard Great Lakes and U.S. Coast Guard Sector Lake Michigan for hosting the team; we’re looking forward to next year!
Congratulations to SN Jones on a successful tour!
SN Jones was an exemplary member of the Casket Team, making an incredibly difficult role seem effortless. His expertise on the marks is what led to his selection as the Coast Guard pallbearer for the funeral honors of former Sec. of State Colin Powell.
Good luck at SK “A”-School!
Congratulations to SN Bellot, SN Miller, SN McFarlin, and SN Ramos on successful completion of their Honor Guard tours! Between these four future leaders, they’ve completed well over a thousand missions across the country. SN Bellot & SN Miller we’re exceptional leaders within the Casket Team, and SN Ramos & McFarlin we’re specialized Silent Drill Team members. Good luck in your respective “A”-Schools & fair winds and following seas!
One of our missions at the Honor Guard is to render honors for the arrival of foreign heads of state, dignitaries, and military leaders. Last week we had the honor of providing a cordon for the Prime Minister of Fiji as he arrived at C.G. Headquarters to meet with the Commandant of the U.S. Coast Guard.
The U.S. Coast Guard Ceremonial Honor Guard Color Guard celebrated the Coast Guard’s 232nd birthday in our Nation’s Capitol by presenting colors at the Washington Nationals game last night. Our teams always look forward to showcasing their craft on the big stage, in front of the Commandant of the U.S. Coast Guard, our shipmates in the D.C. area, and the thousands of fans in attendance for the ball game.
This week, the U.S. Coast Guard Ceremonial Honor Guard had the honor of supporting a great American.
Secretary Norman Y. Mineta’s honors were held in San Jose, hosted by the City and attended by notable Americans from across the country. To quote President Clinton’s speech today, ”Mineta was a builder rather than a divider, who chose to use his power and influence for others rather than for himself.” Most notable, Sec. Mineta was detained as a boy in a Japanese Internment Camp during WWII. Rather than allowing the experience to embitter him, he chose to write a different story— one of commitment and service to his country and his fellow Americans. He is the model of public service and is an example of why we serve at the CG Ceremonial Honor Guard.
U.S. Coast Guard Ceremonial Honor Guard Silent Drill Team supported New York City 2022 Fleet Week and United States Coast Guard Sector New York with numerous high visibility performances over four days! Very proud of our men and women.
Proud to support this message and to serve the world’s best Coast Guard.

Apologies for the long delay! It has been a busy winter season here at the United States Coast Guard Ceremonial Honor Guard. We have had several members leave to go off to A school and continue their careers in the CG! But we have added plenty of new Honor Guard members! Please help us welcome to our family SN Dia, SN Dorn, SN Dusseault, SN Gardy, SN Guzman, SN Jackson, SN Liscum, SN Meadows, SN Moore, SN Parks, SN Portillo, SN Saunders, SN Simpson, and SN Wilcox! We here at the U.S. Coast Guard Ceremonial Honor Guard want to share our thanks to all those who have served and are still currently serving on this Veterans Day. We had the distinct pleasure to perform several honors, including supporting the 100th Anniversary of the World War 1 Unknown Soldier being laid to rest in Arlington National Cemetery, a wreath laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, and more. We are grateful for all of your service.
All alumni— Please take time to review our compilation of CG Ceremonial Honor Guard photos from 1960s to today.

The US Coast Guard Ceremonial Honor Guard has had a very busy past couple of weeks! We are excited to welcome to the Honor Guard family several new members, including BM1 Haley, SN Eichenlaub, SN Gunnigle, SN Hermann, SN Roldan, SN Smith, and SN Wedel! SN Eichenlaub and SN Gunnigle completed their going up ceremony together, something that isn’t done very often. This requires each member to not only complete the ceremony perfectly, but to be in sync with each other. We are excited to have everyone start performing missions and look forward to seeing them on the marks!
Today, on Citizenship Day, SN Felipe German Hussing took his oath of citizenship and led the Pledge for his fellow American citizens. Congrats, my friend! Way to represent your service, your country, and the U.S. Coast Guard Ceremonial Honor Guard!
Congratulations to our newest member, Senior Chief Blaine Piersol, our Command Senior Enlisted Leader. He fills a newly billeted Command Senior Chief position, upgraded from the historic Honor Guard Chief role.
Congratulations to our newest members of the CG Ceremonial Honor Guard, SN Nick Aguirre, SN Cassi Boyer, and SN Kaitlyn Hansen. Welcome to the family!
By wearing the uniform, we represent every man and woman who has served our country before us in every service. Every Marine; every airman. Every soldier and every sailor. As servicemen and women, and particularly as honor guardsmen, our work honors the sacrifice of this chosen profession, revering those who gave the last measure of devotion. Never forget why we serve and those who we represent in our work.
Thank you for those who have chosen to commit your life in service. And thank you most to those who’ve sacrificed everything in service to their country! Semper Paratus!
In May 1978, the first women were stationed at the U.S. Coast Guard Ceremonial Honor Guard to stand duty alongside men during ceremonial honors in support of the Military Office of the President, a summation of five years of effort to create equity in the joint forces Honor Guards.
From no women in 1978 to 17% women in 2021.
Last Friday was an exciting day! We are happy to announce our newest Honor Guardsman, SN Baker. He got to perform the nerve-racking job of completing his successful going up in front of not only his shipmates, but Admiral Hickey, Director of Governmental and Public Affairs for the Coast Guard. After the Coast Guard Ceremonial Honor Guard became its own command last year, we now directly work for his office.
Admiral Hickey then presided over a few awards, including the presentation of the Coast Guard Meritorious Unit Commendation to the unit.
Today, the U.S. Coast Guard Ceremonial Honor Guard celebrates its 59th birthday.
Established at the request of President John F. Kennedy on 5 March 1962, the U.S. Coast Guard Ceremonial Honor Guard was established in Baltimore at the Coast Guard Yard.
From the Honor Guard’s 1962 Annual Performance Report:
"We, of the Coast Guard, have a Ceremonial Honor Guard numbering 33 men, or one platoon. Though small in number, the Coast Guard Honor Guard quickly established itself as one of the top ceremonial units of the national (or presidential) honor guard. They did it by hard work and desire alone."
The report notes 33 “men” because women were not allowed to serve in the joint service Honor Guards at that time in our history. It wouldn’t be until 1978 that the first women joined our ranks. We’ve come a long way. Yet, some things endure....
The pride of being a Coast Guard Honor Guardsman is borne of the hard work, desire, and grit it takes to be the best in their class.
Happy birthday to all current and prior Honor Guardsmen. I’m proud to serve alongside you and immensely honored to represent the Honor Guard as its first Commanding Officer. Semper Paratus, shipmates!
Congratulations to SA Kyle Terashima, SA Davis Kilpatrick, SA Gavin Kasold, and SA Allyson Smith on successfully completing Honor Guard training and earning their ropes. Welcome to the long, proud lineage of the U.S. Coast Guard Ceremonial Honor Guard! Well done!
Happy President’s Day everyone! Over the last two weeks we have had a surprising amount of snow and ice here in Alexandria, Virginia. That doesn’t mean we get to slow down our training! Attached are photos from some funeral training the Ceremonial Honor Guard conducted, along with our new unit sign.
Friends and family of the Honor Guard, give up a huge congrats to SN Valentina Di Zio on a very successful Super Bowl LV joint armed forces colors mission representing the U.S. Coast Guard. This was the first time the U.S. Coast Guard Ceremonial Honor Guard and United States Air Force Honor Guard fielded a female joint-service colors bearers to present at the Super Bowl. Incredibly proud of SN Valentina Di Zio.

The US Coast Guard Ceremonial Honor Guard would like to welcome the first new Honor Guardsman of 2021, SN Kovacs! Attached are pictures from their going up ceremony. Congratulations to him for his hard work. We will see you on the marks shipmate!
Friends and family of the U.S. Coast Guard Ceremonial Honor Guard, please find some additional photographs from yesterday’s 59th Presidential Inauguration. As more are published, we will post them here. Hundreds of emails and texts have come in from prior alumni sharing their stories. We are compiling these in effort to publish a Ceremonial Honor Guard Year in Review, which will be made available to alumni. Please send your stories of past inauguration to [email protected].
Stay tight. Very respectfully, LCDR C.M. Kimrey
Here’s some great footage from today’s Inauguration Parade for the 46th President. The Presidential Es**rt was led by our XO, LT Kyle Maxey and our Operations Officer LTJG Tyler Rochelle, and MST1 Justin Buckner. Ceremonial portion ends at 26:01. The Coast Guard Band is also featured at 30:45. The Band has been in every inauguration in the last 100 years.
Simultaneously, ENS Casey Blowe, EM1 Hovis and Chief Danny Underwood led the Presidential Armed Forces Wreath Laying at Arlington National Cemetery’s Tomb of the Unknowns.
I couldn’t be more proud of the exceptional display of pride, poise, and perfection. From the Tomb to the Capital to the White House: We’ve proven once again—U.S. Coast Guard Ceremonial Honor Guard is one of the best! Congrats to the entire Honor Guard team, and thanks to all our alumni who continue to support us!
Semper Paratus, shipmates!

From the staff here at the US Coast Guard Ceremonial Honor Guard, we want to thank everyone for their support over the last year, and to wish everyone a Happy New Year! The last bit of good news for the year 2020 is pictures from SN Weathersby’s going up ceremony. Congratulations to him and please help us welcome him to the Honor Guard family!
Happy holidays from the U.S. Coast Guard Ceremonial Honor Guard! Thank you all for your support this year as we stood up our command. Our men and women are hard at work this holiday season as we prepare for the inauguration of our 46th President. We’re looking forward to carrying on the torch of the Ceremonial Honor Guard into the future, and are looking forward to a great new year. Very warmest, CO
We wish to welcome three new members into the Honor Guard family! These three members have successfully completed training and have earned their rope. Please help us welcome SN Tiwari, SN Miller, and SN Hudson.
Bravo Zulu shipmates!
Today, SN Adam Ogburn joined the ranks of the U.S. Coast Guard Ceremonial Honor Guard after completing eight-weeks of the most demanding training program of the joint-service honor guards.
Congrats, SN Ogburn. Very proud of you, shipmate.
