Based on the feedback received and after careful consideration from the Lorton Visioning 2040 community meeting at the Lorton Community Center last week, the public hearing is going to be moved from tomorrow (June 23) to July 14, 2026, to allow additional time for community engagement and to consider how best to address the concerns raised by residents. Given the significance of this proposal and the level of community interest, I believe additional discussion and review will help ensure that all perspectives are fully considered before the Board takes action.

On June 19, 1865, the last enslaved African Americans living in Galveston, Texas were told the Civil War ended; the Emancipation Proclamation had been signed in 1863 by President Lincoln; and all were now free from the bo***ge of slavery. This date came to be known as Juneteenth.

Today i was honored to attend the ceremonial bill signing by Governor of Virginia Abigail Spanberger for contraception legislation patroned by Senator Jennifer Carroll Foy, Delegate Marcia "Cia" Price, and Delegate Josh Thomas at River View and the Turning Point Suffragists Memorial. This legislation marks an important milestone for healthcare access in Virginia.
