Catch the Recording: CMS has proposed major HCPCS coding changes for immune globulin (Ig) products effective January 1, 2027.

The proposal would replace many existing 500 mg billing unit codes with new manufacturer-specific codes using smaller 100 mg or 200 mg billing units.

These changes could create significant operational challenges, including system updates, claims complexity, unit conversion risks, payer adjudication changes, and staff education needs across providers, manufacturers, and payers.

The recording provides an overview of the proposed changes and discussion of the potential impact on home infusion providers and other industry stakeholders.

NHIF Contributes to AJHP Publication on HPN Readmissions

The American Journal of Health-System Pharmacy published an article by Alexandre Ivanov, et al. The article, “Home Parenteral Nutrition and 30-Day Hospital Readmission: A Descriptive Study,” found HPN-related hospital readmissions were most likely to occur in the first 14 days of the patient being at home. Researchers conclude that earlier readmissions highlight the importance of the care transition process.

The home infusion market is evolving rapidly, bringing new growth opportunities alongside increased operational and regulatory complexity. Providers are being asked to manage higher-value claims, navigate stricter payer requirements, and maintain compliance—all while modernizing systems and exploring new technologies like AI.

Join NHIA and Prochant for a webinar where we'll focus on how to scale effectively during this period of transition. We’ll cover how to approach system changes without disrupting workflows, where AI can drive meaningful efficiency and accuracy, and how to strengthen compliance processes to meet rising payer scrutiny.

Tuesday at NHIA 2026 began with a breakfast symposium on Secondary Immunodeficiencies and the innovative 30-30-30 sessions before a final bustling day on the Expo floor, where the Infusion Experience wrapped up its mock infusion audit for more than 350 attendees. The closing General Session Keynote featured Arel Moodie, who introduced Adult Development Theory and his ALIGN framework as practical tools for decoding team behavior and driving organizational alignment. Arel went deeper into practical applications across dynamic scenarios in a workshop alongside other immersive education in the afternoon, including HPEN & Site of Care giant Jenga and Bridging the Gap Between Sales and Intake Family Feud. The conference also celebrated several well-deserved honorees, including Barbara Petroff as the recipient of the 2026 Lynn Giglione Women in Leadership Award, Lisa Kinder, RD, CNSC FNHIA as the NHIF Outstanding Abstract Achievement Award winner, and the 2026 FNHIA Fellows cohort. The day closed by celebrating the incredible infusion community with a memorable networking event at Local Drive Marketplace, complete with indoor golf, lawn games, and local food and drinks.
