Here is our latest forecast rainfall amounts for the remnants of Tropical Storm Elsa as of 10 AM on Friday, July 9th. The coastal plain, especially in the mid coast region is expected to receive the most rainfall. Heavy bands of rainfall in a very short period of time is why we are continuing our Flash Flood Watch through this storm.
The rainfall will exit the area this evening to early overnight hours.

Heavy Rain Today with High Surf this Evening:

Post Tropical Elsa will cross the Gulf of Maine today bringing with it bands of heavy rain. The latest trends show the highest likely of heavy rain will be along the coast with widespread 2" readings likely. Locally higher amounts are possible though as heavy rain bands pivot into the region with the mid-coast expected to take the brunt of the heavy rainfall. Localized flash flooding is possible still, especially in hilly regions and urban areas.

Further inland the heavy rainfall will not be as widespread, but the chance still exists for the development of localized heavy rain bands to develop. This could lead to localized flood issues in the flashy mountain areas and we will watch this threat through the day.

On the wind front it looks to be minor with no impactful winds expected across interior areas. Winds will become gusty along the immediate coast today out of the East/Northeast but are mostly expected to stay below 30 mph. Localized higher gusts could be possible in any heavy rain band that pivots into the area later this morning and this afternoon.

Not a good day to be on the water this afternoon and evening as seas become choppy and swells build. This will lead to a high surf advisory this evening as near shore waves build to 7 feet.

The storm will quickly depart from the south to north today with the heavy rain ending for the mid-coast later this evening. Looks like a nice summer weekend on tap.
