🚸 SCHOOL DROP-OFF REMINDER 🚸

In an effort to avoid accidents and help keep everyone safe, the Algoma Police Department would like to remind everyone that there is NO PARKING, STANDING, OR DROP-OFF in front of the main office of Algoma Elementary School at the intersection of Fremont Street and Fifth Street.

The crossing guards are there to help students and parents safely cross the street. The area in front of the school is painted yellow and should remain clear.

For morning drop-off, please utilize the other parking areas along Fremont Street or the adjacent streets.

Additionally, the small section just past the main entrance is HANDICAP PARKING ONLY.

Our goal is to ensure all of our youth can safely get to school each morning. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated!

🚧 Traffic Pattern Update – Feld St & Mueller St Intersection 🚧

The City of Algoma is moving to the next phase of the traffic pattern change at the intersection of Feld St and Mueller St.

Beginning Friday, August 28, 2026:

The temporary 4-way stop will be removed.

🛑 Mueller St will become the only street with stop signs.

➡️ Traffic traveling on Feld St will no longer stop at the intersection.

Please use extra caution when traveling through the area, especially during the transition. Be alert for the change in traffic control and watch for other drivers who may still be adjusting to the new pattern.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we make this traffic control improvement to enhance safety in the area.

🚨 SHANTY DAYS PARADE & PARKING REMINDER 🚨

Shanty Days is this weekend! With the parade and craft vendors, please be aware of the following parking restrictions:

Craft Vendors – Friday through Sunday
There will be NO PARKING on Fremont Street from 6th Street to 2nd Street from Friday afternoon through Sunday evening for the craft vendors.

Saturday Parade – NO PARKING BY 8:00 AM
The Shanty Days parade route will begin on Fremont Street at Sunset Avenue, continue to 4th Street, then proceed along:

Fourth St → Steele St → Second St → Lake St

All vehicles must be removed from the entire parade route by 8:00 AM Saturday morning, including the section of Fremont Street between Sunset Avenue and Fourth Street.

Beginning around 3:00 AM Saturday morning, no-parking cones will be placed along portions of the parade route to help clear the streets. Please do not assume that a section is available for parking simply because cones are not present.

The Algoma Police Department will be out Saturday morning helping remind residents and visitors to move their vehicles. However, vehicles left on the parade route after the 8:00 AM deadline may be towed at the owner's expense.

Beginning at approximately 11:30 AM Saturday, all parade barricades will be in place and the parade route will be closed to vehicle traffic. Law enforcement will be controlling access to the route at that time. If you are planning to park, set up chairs, or otherwise access the parade route, please do so before the barricades are in place.

Please plan ahead, move your vehicles early, and help us keep the parade route clear and safe for everyone.

🚧 Traffic Pattern Change – Feld St & Mueller St Intersection 🚧

The City of Algoma will be changing the traffic pattern at the intersection of Feld St and Mueller St.

Current traffic pattern:
🛑 Stop signs are on Feld St.

Beginning July 27, 2026:
➡️ The intersection will become a temporary 4-way stop. The temporary stop signs will be equipped with orange flags to help alert drivers to the change.

About a week later:
➡️ The temporary 4-way stop will be removed, and Mueller St will become the only street with stop signs, while traffic on Feld St will no longer stop.

Please use extra caution while traveling through the area during the transition, watch for the temporary stop signs with orange flags, and be prepared for the new traffic pattern.
