Welcome ABATE riders!

As we head into the Fourth of July weekend, we wanted to give out some special tips on how to stay safe and stay cool in the heat!

For Riders:
• Stay hydrated and take breaks, especially during the hottest parts of the day.
• Wear your protective gear and ride alert.
• Watch for loose gravel, farm equipment, and wildlife on rural roads.
• If you plan to enjoy alcohol, make a plan for a safe ride home.

For Community Members:
• Expect increased motorcycle traffic throughout the week.
• Take an extra second to look twice before turning or changing lanes.
• Give motorcycles plenty of space and remember they may slow quickly for road hazards.
• Be patient and help make Kossuth County a welcoming place for our visitors.

Be aware of severe weather through the end of this week, watch the Kossuth County Emergency Management page for updates about incoming weather!

We hope all of you have a fun and safe Fourth of July weekend!

Severe bleeding can become life-threatening in just minutes, but quick action can save a life. 🩸🚑

The Stop the Bleed campaign recommends three simple steps to help control serious bleeding:

• Apply firm, direct pressure to the wound
• Pack the wound with clean cloth or gauze if needed
• Use a tourniquet for severe bleeding from an arm or leg

Call 911 immediately and continue applying pressure until help arrives. Acting fast can make all the difference.
