📚 School Starts Next Week!

Let's Keep Everyone Safe. As students head back to the classroom, let's work together to make the school year a safe one for everyone.

🚸 Slow down in school zones and watch for reduced speed limits.
🚌 Stop for school buses when their stop arm is extended and red lights are flashing.
🚶 Watch for children walking or riding their bikes, especially near schools and intersections.
📵 Put the phone away and stay focused while driving.
🚗 Give yourself a few extra minutes during the morning and afternoon commute.

A little extra patience can make a big difference in keeping our students, crossing guards, bus drivers, and families safe.

Let's help every child have a safe start to the new school year!

We’re humbled to be able to feed everyone at MART training yesterday. Thank you for choosing Algona Axe House!

MART is our Multi Agency Response Team. This tactical team is dedicated to prioritizing our community’s safety in high risk incidents. They acquire very specialized training in order to handle situations with the right equipment and tactics to ensure the safest possible outcome.

To feed this team is a pleasure 💙

⚠️🚓 PUBLIC SAFETY NOTICE: MART Training Exercise 🚓 ⚠️

The Kossuth County Sheriff's Office would like to inform residents that MART (Multi Agency Response Team) will be conducting training exercises on August 12th in Bancroft, IA.

This is ONLY A TRAINING EXERCISE - there is NO ACTIVE THREAT TO THE COMMUNITY You may notice an increased law enforcement presence, including tactical vehicles, equipment, and simulated activity.

In just two weeks, the sounds of school buses, crossing guards, and excited students will once again fill the streets of Kossuth County.

As we prepare for a new school year, now is the perfect time to start getting back into safe driving habits.

Please remember to:
🚌 Watch for school buses and be prepared to stop.
🚸 Slow down in school zones.
🚶 Keep an eye out for children walking, biking, or crossing streets.
📵 Put your phone away and stay focused on the road.
⏰ Leave a few minutes earlier so you don't feel rushed.

Parents, now is also a great time to review safety with your children:
✔️ Look both ways before crossing the street.
✔️ Use designated crosswalks whenever possible.
✔️ Stay alert and avoid distractions while walking or biking.
✔️ Know your bus stop safety rules.

A safe school year starts before the first bell rings. By working together, we can help ensure every student arrives at school and returns home safely each day.

Did you lose your keys while at the fairgrounds? We have a set of car keys that was found and turned in to the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office.
