✨ This week was a VERY BUSY week here at The Manor!! ✨

Our residents partaked in some Balloon Volleyball action against each other! They formed a circle and the object of the game is to keep the beach balloon inside of the circle using pool noodles!! 🙃 They all really enjoy this all time favorite game!! Its gets the hearts pumping and the muscles moving! 🫀💪

Later on during the week we had our monthly resident birthday party where Amedisys Hospice donated a very delicious cake for our residents!!😋 and we also paid tribute to the late Dolly Parton & Michael Wright a.k.a (Eddie Kane Jr)

We enjoyed karaoke and music this entire week because our resident LOVE to sing and dance!! Music will always be the root to happiness here at Aliceville Manor Nursing Home 🩵🤍

Get to Know Briana McDaniel

If you know Briana McDaniel, you probably know the focused, get-it-done side of her. But there’s a lot more behind the role she holds today at Aliceville Manor Nursing Home.

Briana currently serves in Risk Management and as Assistant Administrator and has spent a combined eight years as part of the Aliceville Manor team. She has been a nurse for 13 years, beginning her career in the ICU before becoming a Certified Wound Specialist and spending six years in wound care.

Over the years, Briana has served Aliceville Manor in several different capacities, including Staff Development and Assistant Director of Nursing, before moving into risk management and administration. That journey has given her a unique perspective—she understands the clinical side of caring for residents, the challenges employees face every day, and the behind-the-scenes work required to keep a nursing facility safe, compliant, and moving forward.

But when Briana talks about why she loves long-term care, she doesn’t hesitate:

“The relationships!!!!”

For her, that’s what makes this work different. Residents become family. You learn their stories, personalities and preferences. You meet their families. And over time, caring for someone becomes much more personal than simply completing the tasks of the day.

That is also why one principle guides the way Briana approaches her work: Treat people the way you would want your own family to be treated.

Whether she’s working with a resident, listening to a family member, supporting an employee, investigating a concern, or solving a problem behind the scenes, Briana wants people to know she is approachable, fair and dependable. She may not always have the answer immediately, but she believes strongly in listening, finding the answer and following through.

Outside of work, Briana and her husband stay busy raising their two children. Their favorite family moments don’t have to be complicated—they enjoy fishing, going to the beach, swimming, and simply spending time together.

And if you only know Briana’s serious work side, you’re missing part of the story. She loves to laugh and has a pretty big sense of humor—something those who work closely with her already know well.

Her favorite Bible verse, Isaiah 41:10, is a reminder she carries with her:

“Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God…”

As Briana continues growing in leadership, she wants residents to receive excellent care, families to feel confident about the people caring for their loved ones, and employees to know they are supported and appreciated.

And when she thinks about the impact she ultimately wants to make at Aliceville Manor, Briana puts it simply:

“I want to leave things better than I found them.”

We hope you enjoyed getting to know a little more about Briana McDaniel—not just what she does at Aliceville Manor, but the heart and experiences she brings to the people we serve.

Meet Mary Alice Stevenson

We’d love for our community to get to know Mary Alice Stevenson, Interim Administrator at Aliceville Manor Nursing Home, a little better!

Mary Alice brings 32 years of long-term care experience to her role, with a career that has taken her through 39 communities across four states. Her connection to long-term care began much earlier. As a teenager, she volunteered in a nursing home after school and discovered a genuine love for spending time with older adults—a calling she believes God continued to place on her heart as she chose her career path.

A graduate of The University of Alabama, Mary Alice lived in Tuscaloosa for ten years, and since joining Aliceville Manor, she has discovered just how many connections she already has to the surrounding community. She completed her college internship under the family member of a current Aliceville Manor resident and later worked under her before receiving her Nursing Home Administrator license. Longtime friendships in Northport, Gordo, and Columbus have revealed even more connections between people she has known for years and members of the Aliceville Manor team. Those relationships have made serving Aliceville feel familiar in a special way.

Mary Alice has enjoyed becoming more involved throughout the area, visiting and connecting with local organizations, healthcare partners, businesses, and community programs. She is looking forward to continuing to build those relationships—including representing Aliceville Manor at the upcoming Carrollton Fall Festival.

What Mary Alice enjoys most about her work remains the people: interacting with residents, learning their stories, supporting staff, and working alongside a team committed to providing quality care. She hopes every resident, family member, and coworker she encounters knows they are valued as an individual and can depend on her to follow through.

Outside of work, Mary Alice enjoys her family, friends, church, traveling, and spending time with her dogs. Since 2000, she has trained nine pet therapy dogs, many of whom have accompanied her to communities throughout her career. Something you may never guess—she learned to ride a motorcycle at eight years old, loves to dance, has participated in mission trips, and serves on a Disaster Relief team.

One principle continues to guide Mary Alice:
“We should always treat each other professionally and respectfully in all settings.”

We’re glad Mary Alice is part of Aliceville Manor and even more excited to see the relationships she continues to build with our residents, families, team, and the community we are proud to serve.

Congratulations to Darlene Hill — Assistant Director of Nursing!

Aliceville Manor Nursing Home is proud to announce the promotion of Darlene Hill from our nursing staff to Assistant Director of Nursing!

With nearly a decade of experience in long-term care, Darlene brings something especially valuable into this role: years of firsthand experience caring for residents and working alongside the nursing staff she will now help lead.

Her experience includes serving as a floor nurse, charge nurse, and night supervisor, giving her an understanding of the responsibilities, challenges, and teamwork required to provide excellent care each day.

For Darlene, nursing began with a simple desire:

She wanted to care for others.

That remains evident in how she describes excellent resident care today. To Darlene, caring for a resident means looking beyond just their clinical needs and making sure they are cared for both physically and emotionally.

As she steps into the ADON role, Darlene is looking forward to taking a greater role in directing, evaluating, and supporting the care provided throughout Aliceville Manor.

She also knows that leadership starts with the example you set.

“I believe in leading by example and demonstrating a strong work ethic.”

That philosophy will be an important part of the leadership style Darlene brings to our nursing department.

Just as importantly, she wants our staff and families to know that her door is open. Darlene wants those with questions or concerns about resident care to feel comfortable coming to her, knowing she will listen, follow through, and work toward a resolution.

When asked what she hopes to bring to our nursing team, Darlene’s answer was straightforward:

Strong work ethic and quality resident care.

And when asked what she loves about Aliceville Manor, her answer was just as simple:

The caring environment.

We are proud to continue developing leaders from within Aliceville Manor — individuals who already know our residents, understand the work, and have demonstrated a heart for serving others.

As Assistant Director of Nursing, Darlene will work alongside our nursing leadership team to support our staff, strengthen resident care, and help ensure that the caring environment she values so much continues throughout Aliceville Manor.

Please join us in congratulating Darlene Hill on her promotion to Assistant Director of Nursing!

Darlene, we are proud to give you this opportunity to grow as a leader, and we look forward to seeing the experience, work ethic, and heart for others you bring to this role.

Congratulations, Darlene! ♥️

Please Join Us in Congratulating Keosha Mullins — Director of Nursing!

Aliceville Manor Nursing Home is proud to announce the promotion of Keosha Mullins, RN, from Assistant Director of Nursing to Director of Nursing!

For Keosha, this promotion represents the next chapter of a long-term care journey that began many years ago — right here at Aliceville Manor.

Raised in a family of nurses, Keosha says healthcare was always a big part of her life. Her mother and both of her sisters are nurses, and as a young girl, Keosha would visit her mother while she worked at Aliceville Manor. She remembers following staff around, trying to lend a hand and enjoying every opportunity to interact with the residents.

Even then, she knew long-term care was where she belonged.

Keosha has now dedicated 23 years to long-term care, building her career through experience, education, and continued growth. She began as a CNA in 2004, became an LPN in 2007, and earned her Registered Nurse designation in 2023.

Throughout her career, Keosha has served in numerous roles, including Charge/Medication Nurse, MDS/Care Plan Coordinator, Staff Development and Education, Infection Preventionist, Assistant Director of Nursing — and now, Director of Nursing.

Her years of hands-on experience, nursing leadership, and deep connection to Aliceville Manor have prepared her well for this next step.

When asked what motivated her to take this next step, Keosha shared that she wants to continue growing personally and professionally, continue improving resident care, and empower those around her so the entire team can continue growing together.

As DON, Keosha looks forward to continuing to foster a positive, supportive environment where our team can grow and provide exceptional care to our residents.

At the heart of her leadership philosophy is the reason we are all here: our residents.

To Keosha, excellent resident care means ensuring every resident’s needs are met and that they continue receiving the care they deserve.

She describes herself as an accessible, transparent and approachable leader who is open to new ideas, and she looks forward to continuing the family-like environment that makes Aliceville Manor so special.

This community is also home for Keosha. Born and raised in Aliceville, she is proud of her hometown, proud of this facility, and proud of the team she now has the opportunity to serve in a new capacity.

When asked to describe what she hopes to bring to our nursing team in just three words, Keosha chose:

VALUE. RESPECT. GROWTH.

As Keosha steps into the Director of Nursing role, she will continue the legacy of strong RN leadership at Aliceville Manor while bringing her own heart, experience, and commitment to the residents and team she serves. For Keosha, leadership is not simply about a title — it is about caring for people, supporting those around her, and never losing sight of the residents at the center of every decision.

Keosha shared this message for our residents, families and staff as she begins this new chapter:

“I am a people’s person, approachable, and open for ideas that work for the benefit of the residents and this facility!”

Please join us in congratulating Keosha Mullins, RN, Director of Nursing, on this well-earned promotion.

Keosha, we are proud to recognize your growth from CNA to LPN to RN and now Director of Nursing, and we look forward to seeing you continue serving Aliceville Manor with the same heart for long-term care that first brought you here all those years ago.

Congratulations, Keosha! We are excited for this next chapter of nursing leadership at Aliceville Manor. ❤️

Celebrating Joy Reynolds: 35 Years of Nursing, 26 Years of Long-Term Care & a Legacy of Service

After a remarkable 35-year nursing career, including nearly 26 years devoted to long-term care, Joy Reynolds is preparing to close one chapter of her career after almost six years serving as Director of Nursing at Aliceville Manor Nursing Home.

Joy’s journey into nursing began with encouragement from one of her childhood best friends, Kellie, who inspired her to attend nursing school. Years later, when Joy’s children were small, she made the move into long-term care because the schedule better fit what her family needed at the time.

What started as a practical decision quickly became something much bigger.

“I was immediately hooked and never left long-term care.”

For Joy, caring for the geriatric population has never been simply a job. She says she learns something new from residents every day, and while she has spent decades putting smiles on their faces, they have undoubtedly put just as many on hers.

Some of her favorite memories at Aliceville Manor have been made outside the ordinary routines of the day — dancing, singing, taking pictures, going fishing, participating in activities, and simply having fun with residents both inside the facility and throughout the community.

Joy is incredibly proud of the team at Aliceville Manor and the level of love and care they provide. Some of our CNAs have dedicated more than 30 years to AMNH, something Joy says speaks volumes about this facility and the people who serve here.

And when Joy talks about her team, she means all of Aliceville Manor.

“My team is not defined as just nursing, but all AMNH employees.”

Over the years, the residents she has cared for have also taught her a lesson rooted deeply in her faith:

Each day is a new start with new blessings from God.

It is fitting, then, that when asked to finish the sentence “Long-term care will always be special to me because…” Joy answered:

“This is where God placed me in my nursing career. There is no doubt of that because I have loved every minute of it.”

As she prepares to step away from the DON role, Joy says she will especially miss the residents who stop by just to say hello, their smiles and hugs, and the work family she has served alongside every day.

To anyone beginning a career in long-term care, Joy leaves some important advice:

Listen. Take time to listen to residents, families, and coworkers. Be passionate about what you do every day. Smile, and appreciate the honor you have been given to work with this population.

And to the residents, families, and team members she has served alongside:

“Thank you so much for allowing me to be a small part of your lives. It has been an honor! Love you all!”

Thankfully, this is not goodbye.

While Joy’s final day serving as Director of Nursing at Aliceville Manor will be September 3, 2026, we are incredibly blessed that she will remain part of our team. Joy plans to continue sharing her experience, knowledge, and heart for long-term care by contributing to Aliceville Manor and our sister facilities as part of our RN Consultant Team.

If Joy has touched your life — whether you are a resident, family member, current or former team member, community partner, or friend of Aliceville Manor — we invite you to stop by Aliceville Manor and help us wish Joy well as she closes this chapter.

Joy, thank you for your leadership, your faith, your laughter, your compassion, and the countless ways you have served Aliceville Manor.

Nearly six years as our DON may be coming to an end, but thankfully, your story with our team is not.

We love you, Joy, and we are excited to see the impact you will continue to make in this next chapter. ❤️
