Severe weather may be the initial threat, but it could transition into more of a flooding threat as we move into the evening. Storms will produce heavy rainfall and could move over the same areas. Here is the probability that rainfall will exceed flash flood guidance.

πŸ“’STATEWIDE FIRE ALERT REMAINS IN EFFECTπŸ“’

Statewide Fire Danger is HIGH today!
The Northern half of the state is classified as a High Fire Danger, while the Southern half has increased to a Very High Fire Danger classification.

We continue to urge everyone to avoid outdoor burning as we remain in drought conditions.

For clarity - this is not a ban on outdoor burning. This is a public notice to increase awareness of the drought conditions. As always, if you are burning over a .25 of an acre, you must obtain a burn permit from AFC's dispatch center.

🚨 ATTENTION CITIZENS OF ALICEVILLE 🚨

🚨 STATEWIDE FIRE ALERT – ALABAMA 🚨

The Alabama Forestry Commission has issued a statewide Fire Alert, effective until at least April 20.

State Forester Rick Oates issued this alert due to worsening drought conditions and low relative humidity across the state, creating a high risk for wildfires.

Over the past month:
β€’ 387 wildfires have occurred
β€’ 15,850 acres of forestland have burned

πŸ”₯ Burning Restrictions in Effect:
β€’ Outdoor burning permits are restricted to Certified Prescribed Burn Managers only
β€’ No general public burning is allowed

⚠️ IMPORTANT:
Anyone who burns fields, grasslands, or woodlands without a valid permit may face prosecution for a Class B misdemeanor.

Please use extreme caution and help protect our community by avoiding all outdoor burning during this time.

HB 116 passed today and has been delivered to the Governor for signature.

The Volunteer Rescue Squad Tuition Reimbursement Program pays tuition on behalf of students who are studying to qualify for emergency medical services personnel licensure from the Alabama Department of Public Health. In exchange for tuition, the students contract with the program to work for at least two years for an ambulance service, a volunteer rescue squad, or a volunteer fire department. Current law authorizes the member schools of the Alabama Community College System, the Alabama Fire College, and the University of South Alabama to provide the necessary educational program to students and receive tuition reimbursement.
