On May 29, 2026, at approximately 2:00 p.m., an Aliquippa Police Sergeant conducting patrol in the Valley Terrace area observed a juvenile male out in front of one of the buildings.

As the Sergeant passed the juvenile, he observed the juvenile remove what appeared to be a firearm from his waistband and point it toward the marked police vehicle. The Sergeant immediately stopped and attempted to make contact with the juvenile, who fled on foot.

The juvenile was subsequently located at a nearby apartment and identified as a 10-year-old male. His mother was notified, and he was released into her custody. The firearm was recovered and determined to be a realistic-looking replica handgun.

This incident serves as an important reminder for parents and guardians to speak with their children about firearm safety, responsible behavior, and the serious consequences that can result from handling or displaying replica weapons in public, especially pointing one at the police or any person. Situations involving fi****ms or objects that appear to be fi****ms can escalate quickly and have tragic outcomes.

We are grateful that no one was injured and that this incident was resolved safely. We are also thankful for the training, professionalism, and experience of the responding officers, whose actions helped bring the situation to a safe conclusion. Their ability to quickly assess the circumstances and respond appropriately played a critical role in preventing what could have been a much more serious outcome.

The Aliquippa Police Department remains committed to the safety of our community and appreciates the continued support and cooperation of our residents.

A Serious Reminder for Our Community

Today, our community was confronted with a deeply troubling incident that could have ended in tragedy.

According to reports, a 10-year-old child allegedly removed what appeared to be a firearm from his waistband and pointed it toward an Aliquippa Police cruiser as officers were driving by. Thankfully, officers acted quickly, located the child, identified him, notified his mother, and are handling the matter through the appropriate legal channels.

While we are grateful that no one was injured, this incident serves as a stark reminder of how quickly a situation can escalate and how devastating the outcome could have been. In a matter of seconds, lives could have been changed forever—those of the child, the officers involved, and countless family members affected by the aftermath.

We extend our appreciation to the men of the Aliquippa Police Department and Stg. Dave Mosura for his professionalism, restraint, and swift response in bringing this situation to a safe resolution.

This is also a call to all parents, guardians, and community members. We must continue to have conversations with our children about the dangers of fi****ms, the consequences of their actions, and the importance of making responsible decisions. It truly takes a village to raise and protect our youth.

Today could have ended much differently. By the grace of God and the professionalism of our officers, it did not.

Let this serve as a wake-up call and a reminder that the safety of our children and our community is a responsibility we all share.
