Happy “Got You Day” to Hank! He is one of the finest friends we at the Aliquippa Bureau of Fire could ever ask for!

From the moment Hank became part of our firehouse family, he has brought nothing but loyalty, comfort, and smiles to everyone around him. Whether it’s greeting us after a long call, boosting morale around the station, or simply being there during the tough days, Hank has become an important part of our team.

The fire service can be demanding and stressful, and having a companion like Hank reminds us all how important friendship, loyalty, and unconditional support truly are. Today we celebrate not just the day Hank found a home with us, but the positive impact he continues to have on everyone at the bureau and throughout our community.

Thank you for being our firehouse companion, bathroom buddy, morale booster, and best friend, Hank. Here’s to many more years of treats, couch cuddles, belly rubs, station naps, and rides to see his favorite ladies at the B.F. Jones Memorial Library and best friend Frankie at Evil Lizard.

Happy Got You Day, Hank!

Around 8:00 PM last night, your Aliquippa firefighters responded to a reported structure fire in the 300 block of Fourth Avenue in the city.

The first arriving crew was on scene within 4 minutes of the initial dispatch and had water on the fire within minutes. Despite numerous challenges and obstacles encountered on the fireground, crews were able to bring the fire under control within approximately 20 minutes.

Thanks to the quick actions and coordinated efforts of responding firefighters, the incident was contained without any reported injuries.

We would also like to thank all assisting agencies for their support and teamwork during the incident.

Today, your Aliquippa firefighters, alongside crews from the New Brighton Volunteer Fire Dept., City of Beaver Falls Fire Department, and Crescent Township Volunteer Fire Department, as well as personnel from Allegheny Health Network - Prehospital Care Services (957) and Medic Rescue, had the unique opportunity to participate in a confined space rescue drill and evaluation along the Ohio River.

This hands-on training exercise allowed firefighters and EMS personnel to practice critical confined space rescue operations and high-angle rope rescue techniques in an industrial environment. Crews trained on patient packaging, rope systems, hazard recognition, air monitoring, communication between agencies, and safely removing victims from difficult to
access areas.

These types of incidents present unique challenges that require a coordinated response, specialized equipment, and extensive training. Working together in a realistic setting helps strengthen interoperability between departments and ensures that all responding agencies can operate efficiently and safely during real emergencies.

We are extremely grateful for the opportunity to use and demonstrate our skills, evaluate our capabilities, and continue improving our preparedness should an emergency arise within our community or local industrial facilities. Training like this is essential to maintaining a high level of readiness and ensuring the safest possible outcome for both responders and victims.

On Wednesday afternoon, your Aliquippa Firefighters, alongside Economy EMS, had the honor of attending Aliquippa Girl Scouts meeting. Crews were proud to showcase Engine 91 and Economy Ambulance 41 to the girls, who were excited to explore both the fire engine and ambulance firsthand.

The girls asked many great questions about how fire departments and EMS services work together to help people throughout our communities when they call for help. Opportunities like these help build strong community relationships while teaching young people about teamwork, service, and public safety.

Beyond emergency response, our members remained active in community outreach and training.

We were proud to participate in the Prom Mock Crash at Aliquippa High School, helping provide students with a powerful real world perspective on how one decision can impact many lives. The demonstration highlighted the consequences of impaired and distracted driving, while showcasing the coordinated effort required from multiple agencies to protect our community.

Several of our members also continue preparing for the Beaver County CTC Summer Camp, which will be held at the end of June. This program gives local youth the opportunity to experience the fire service firsthand and build valuable skills for the future.

And of course, our best boy Hank stayed busy as well. On April 1st, we celebrated his 2nd birthday with plenty of treats and toys. He also had a great vet visit in April, weighing in at 97 lbs.

While Hank may not realize it, he plays an important role in firefighter wellness and mental health here at the firehouse. His presence makes a difference every single day, and he’s truly living his best life with his firehouse family.

We remain committed to protecting, educating, and serving the City of Aliquippa and surrounding communities every day.

Shortly before 9:00 PM last evening, your Aliquippa Firefighters were dispatched for a reported structure fire. The initial caller reported a house fire, followed quickly by multiple additional calls confirming the incident.

Engine 91 arrived on scene to find fire showing from the roof. The duty crew had water on the fire within 8 minutes of dispatch and immediately went to work.

This incident presented significant challenges for all crews operating on scene due to difficult building construction and limited access to completely reach the seat of the fire. Because of these conditions, crews returned a second time this morning to extinguish a small hidden pocket of fire.

Great work by all crews involved for their quick actions, professionalism, and persistence in bringing this incident under control.

We are always grateful for the support of our mutual aid partners and the rapid response from the Beaver County Strike Team. Working together keeps our community safe.
