Hi UniMasters and Guests,

We had a great meeting last Tuesday! Dan Ash gave another speech on his company’s product (JMoose) and it included the history of how he and his team solved a problem overnight using a technical enginneering solution (Fibonacci). I think there could be a whole speech dedicated to this amazing principle as it is found in most areas of our lives. Thank you, Dan. Very enlightening and we were on the edge of our seats until your conclusion, another advanced Toastmaster skill!

Jennifer Clarke was our Tabletopics Master and now, Avis French has competition! Jennifer started each question with a descriptive scenario and then asked something pertaining to it…nice job Jen. That is also an advanced Toastmaster skill. UniMasters members are on the track to success!

We had a different format for our meeting today. Bret Quiring did a great job on a project in his pathway, "Moderate a Panel" This project is a unique experience and much different than a speech. Thank you to all that participated today as he asked us fun questions about our childhood. I think we all learned something new about each other like Heather Brooks likes to eat things that are “fluffy!!” She described cream puffs perfectly and made us hungry! Roger reminisced about Boating in Detroit, Robin loved going to museums, Julie was really good at pretending to be sick so she could watch Batman and enjoy time with her brother, Deanna loved her family cabin in the Rockies.

Next week, we are back to normal and our theme is “Happiness Is Being On The Water!”….this brings to mind beach days, sailing, paddling, picnicking by a lake - so many things makes us happy about being near the water! Bring your best stories because summer is around the corner!

Attached is our Zoom link and we’ll see you all next Tuesday!

Hello UniMasters,

Tuesday’s meeting reminded us of our challenges and good times with brothers and sisters. We had so many great stories and it looks like we have a few excellent storytellers in our group! Thank you Avis, for being at our meeting…always a pleasure.

Kudos to Bret for starting a professional speech series regarding Clutch Technology and the future of car buying in his industry. It was an educational speech looking into the future of how we will transport ourselves in the next decades. Definitely eye-opening!

Robin went out of her comfort zone (and took us with her) to inform us about insects. Very interesting, and I don’t think I’ll look at them the same way again. Great job with your visual aids.

Next week, we celebrate Easter, Passover, or anything to do with Spring. I'm sure there will be some fun memories with eggs, chocolates or family traditions, so please join us.

We can't wait to celebrate with you next Tuesday at noon!

See you then,

Julie

Hello UniMasters,

Today’s meeting was exceptional! We had two great speakers, Vaidhya and Bret. Vaidhya finished his presentation on the "7 Habits of Highly Effective People" using a background that supported his speech, and an organized PowerPoint to give us his high points.

Bret’s speech titled “Thank you Toastmasters” showed how the skills he found at UniMasters helped him be a more confident presenter at work…something we all strive for. Great job to both Vaidhya and Bret today!

Our Tabletopics was super creative as Joel used photos to “ask” the contestants to describe what they saw. Some used feelings, some described the composition of the photographs. It was a fun way to do Table Topics. So fun, that we’ve decided to use the same format next week in our theme “A PICTURE IS WORTH A THOUSAND WORDS”

Here is our Zoom link and agenda and we look forward to seeing you next Tuesday!!

Hello UniMasters!

Last week's meeting was quite futuristic. Our theme delved into the many facets of future communication, gadgets and time travel. We. of course, all love the "Back To The Future" movie as well as any reference to the Jetsons and The Flintstones. DeAnna gave us the details on Sophia, the robot of the future. I’d like to know where to put a deposit down on her!

Vaidhya gave an educational speech on how to obtain the 7 habits that make us successful. If I practiced these everyday, I’d be less stressed and more successful in my everyday life. Thank you Vaidhya!

See you next Tuesday for any fun and informative UniMasters meeting!

This week Julie gave a very important speech about preparing a home emergency kit. She discussed several ways to be prepared in the event of an earthquake or fire in Southern California. After her speech, she shared a list to get everyone started in their preparedness! She reminded the club to establish a place to meet up in case you are not with your family and suggested asking small children (often) where that location is, so that they can remember it. They may need to tell a teacher or other caretaker. It will put everyone's mind at ease if you know where to find each other!

So far, this educational series has covered how to perform the perfect tennis swing, make an outstanding salad, brew kombucha, and be prepared in case of a disaster.
Come join us next week to see what we will learn next!

This week we had another speech in our “learning lab” style of presentations. Roger Brown gave a wonderful presentation from his kitchen with an educational module on Pasta Salad. Believe me, we were all hungry watching how to make it! I took notes and fed this yummy cold salad to my family - they loved it. We also found out where our members want to go after Covid (and with an unlimited budget). Interesting answers and all are do-able! Travel on!

Next week, we will have another 4-6 minute teaching speech by Bret Quiring. We never know what it will about until Bret starts speaking. It’s more fun that way!

See you Tuesday!

Last Week's Message:

(Wish I would have gotten a picture of Deana showing off her pro-swing and outfit)

Hello UniMasters,

Today’s meeting was especially noteworthy! We had our first in a series of teaching speeches and I think we will enjoy this format for the next few weeks. Everyone has a special talent or unique knowledge that will benefit our members and I look forward to learning from all of our members.

Our first “teacher” was Deanna Santagata and she did a great job with her education of “Tennis Forehand Groundstroke”. She dressed the part, had a tennis racket to demonstrate, and was well organized in her instruction. She was very descriptive which helped us understand the method she uses, and I think the majority of us want to hit the courts with the knowledge we gained from Deanna!

Happy Holidays UniMasters members,

Today, Bret gave an outstanding salute to our favorite holiday movies! There were a few that I had forgotten about over the years, so I will be busy watching them prior to Christmas! Robin Anthony’s speech “A Beautiful Lie” not only had a great title but made us think about the wonder of childhood around the holidays.

Great job to Roger Brown for his Tabletopics performance regarding updating Miracle on 34th Street…another movie we should re-visit!

Next week, our Toastmaster will be Avis French and she will be bringing her Christmas spirit with our theme “Tis The Season”. She has also chosen the word of the day, “yuletide”. Come prepared to celebrate with us again at UniMasters, where all is not silent, but all is bright!

See you next Tuesday at noon,

Julie Morris
